Highline, with the purpose of learning it's a great, and fun, undertaking. Keep us updated on your progress. If it was only for sentimental reasons, my feelings are I don't own anything that can't be replaced with something better the same day, or put another way, never cry over anything that can't cry back.

It's a bolt on neck, just get a replacement.

as someone who has spent 4 times as much as a guitar was worth repainting it (did the work myself, and it was a learning experience, elaborate paint--you probably remember the green ibanez Nik,) I totally agree with you.

i will say I think you need to create a new fretboard. more the fun.
