Wow, my opinion is to toss that scrap lumber into a fire.

But I guess NN doesn't get paid for that.

I don't know how easy it would be to find a replacement neck that would bolt right on (matching the scale and neck dimensions might not be easy).

Hi Niki, cool photo, the break looks pretty bad. I agree that a new fretboard might help. 8)

Haha not being paid at all. Doing it for the adventure.
Got a sneaky snipe bid on eBay going on in case it don't work out. £5 for an Epi neck. I'm probably gonna gibsonize that headstock too

goodnight sweet prince on that neck. even if I can be repaired, the whole guitar can be easily replaced, its not like someone was babying it anyway

I really don't know how to repair a guitar by myself. So, I prefer to buy another guitar instead to bring it to repair shop.

GC sells Epi Specials for $139. I've seen used on CL for under $60. NIce playing guitars but hardly worth repairing a broken neck.

Ah come on lads. You gotta be able to grasp the notion of doing the repair for a friend simply because you can?
To hand your mucka back a guitar that he can't spot the repair on?
Sense of achievement?
Pride?
No?
Any idiot could just go and buy a new one.

I think what people are saying is the cost of the repair (in materials and time) exceeds the cost of a new guitar in this particular model. And that's probably true.

But if there's a sentimental, emotional attachment to this particular guitar ... maybe it's been to hell and back gigging, maybe BB King picked it up and played a couple notes on it, maybe it was a gift from his uncle that passed away last year, etc. etc. Then I say fix it. Some things are irreplaceable.

I totally get this.

Which is why I’m fixing to try and fix the neck mount on my parts caster. If I eff it up then I’ll go to the local Luthier but if I pull it off then good on me and I saved a few bucks.

Good luck with the repair.

Thank you CaptainC
Life would be dull if all you could do was buy your way through it, wouldn't it.

As for cost, here goes.

£6 for some Purpleheart or Wenge for the fretboard
£2 for some fretwire.
Paint, gottit
Inlay material, will use something unusual.

So a grand total of £8 to entertain myself for a couple of months, maybe a couple of weeks.
WIN.
Got some great ideas for the inlays and headstock design too.

As for the guitar, I really don't think it has any sentimental value. But by the time I'm done personalising it for the band, it'll be a mainstay for em I suspect.

Here is how it got broken

The guy at the end is local madman/inventor Colin Furze who made a jet powered pushbike.

Strings, I dunno.
Take it as £10 per 2.5 hours. Which is what the cinema costs, roughly. I reckon it'll save me around £120 in cost entertaining myself.

+1

I have just such a project on the bench this week.

Not nearly as elaborate but just as significant to the owner.

It's very gratifying to restore or repair a used and/or abused piece of gear.

That, my friend, is radicalness. And I thought us skateboarders had all the fun...
