Hey guys. A quick question - has any one of you ever shot a music video which included rain over you guys playing? We're shooting our first music video (I actually have a project in uni - have to make a short video or animation or something and I chose to do a music video for my band, in a previous project I made our official website  ) and obviously we don't want to damage our equipment. I could easily make the rainy effect in post-production, but it would be pretty much impossible to make all the dripping from hair, clothes, make those wet, etc. So if you have the experience - how did you solve the problem? Using fake amps, low quality, cheap guitars, or is there any other alternative (besides, of course, ruining your equipment - and we don't want to do that)?

Thanks, much appreciated :)

I don't know, but I always assumed they either bought some cheap instruments, or they're so 'rich' they can afford to do that with a high-end guitar. It seems like in the video below, they put the band behind the water, or maybe played video on a screen, so only Mike Patton is getting soaked.

Eric Clapton's Pretending official video featured a nice rainy background.

I have no idea who is the hot chick starring in the footage

Not sure what your budget is or what your Production, and Post Production workflow is, but After Effects can do this and can be done fairly on the cheap if you know someone savvy with AE.

Thanks captainc, nice video :)

As far as the budget goes - it's tight. But as far as it looks, we'll only need a cameraman and I know a guy, so hopefully it will be done with less than 200€. I'm not yet a pro at After Effects - although I do aim to be, or at least semi-pro (am very well versed generally in Adobe's programs and have some basic AE knowledge already) - but I think, nay - know, I could pull it off :)
