Seriously considering spending the tax refund on one of these little guys. Any users out there that could validate (or invalidate) the glowing reviews for this hand-wired 5 watter?
Primary use will be in my home, running a Classic Series '60s Tele with CS Texas Specials and a Pawn Shop Series Jag with strat pups. The Swart is said to shine with single coils. I'll likely grab the Swart attenuator as well, as I hope to achieve the fabled Swart tube break-up at modest volumes.

Thanks in advance for relating your experiences and impressions.

They are WONDERFUL little Amps !!

But they go for Really Nice Blackface, or Excellent Silverface, money.

Since the BF, and to a lesser extent the SF, Amps are the Standard by which almost everything else is compared, is even a Swart also just an imposter, albeit a really nice one?

Either a nice Princeton, Princeton Reverb, Deluxe or Deluxe Reverb would fit your criteria nicely as well ! 8)

Something to be sure to consider before plunking down any Shekels.

cheers!

Thank you for the well-considered (and certainly valid) suggestions.
Point well taken, but alas, I was suckered in by the laquered tweed and a YouTube video of Peter Parcek covering Peter Greene's Showbiz Blues using the little monster. A fatal combination that resulted in pulling the trigger on the Swart. Fingers crossed...
On a related note, as I am a rather self-conscious player that "hides" behind a smidge of chorus/delay, it is my hope that a MXR Carbon Copy will play well with the Swart, though I'm fully aware that some would find such an endeavor to be tone blasphemy. Any experience with the CC? Some folks on the boards seem to find it kind of dark...

Cheers, Lightnin'!

After having spent a number of hours with the Swart, I must say my expectations have been exceeded. Elegant looks, superb build quality and spongy, Tweed-ish tone to die for. The uncommonly short signal path provides exceptional response to pick strike. Literally, one can get from gauze to bark with the flick of your pick. It is as though the amp is an instrument in, and of, itself. At 5w Class A, the little beast is rather loud at the sweet breakup point, even with the Negative Feedback circuit engaged. As such, I placed a call to Swart Amplifier Co. to order their Nite Lite attenuator, only to have Michael Swart himself answer the phone and assist me in ordering and answering any questions I had. He seemed genuinely interested in my impressions, and proved to be most gracious.
A truly special amp, hand-constructed by a company that I am pleased to have done business with.

Exactly what I would have expected to hear.

I met Michael Swart last year when he was in town at my local Go-To Git Shop Willie's American Guitars.

He came to buy one of their Vintage instruments, but brought 2 amps and did an in-store demo.

Super nice guy, who's very knowledgeable and produces amazing amps. Plus, he gave me a Tee Shirt !! 8)

Congrats & hope yours gives many years of good service !

cheers!
