Saw Saccharine Trust, The Father Figures, and Shattered Faith last night at Harold's Bar in San Pedro. Saccharine Trust is a very influential punk band from the 80s. They played a lot with The Minutemen and Black Flag. They're definitely from that era when all the punk bands took pride in not all sounding the same. Kurt Cobain, The Melvins and Sonic Youth all said they were influenced by them. Their guitarist Joe Baiza isn't shy about throwing in some jazz chords or a slide into the mix and he plays the same Strat he's had since the 80s, which is worn with love in all the right places...

The Father Figures have Michael Cornelius, the original bassist from JFA on guitar (Tele) and put on a great show with a really tight drummer by the name of Bobby Lerma, hitting hard and throwing in lots of fast fills, and Tom Reardon of the North Side Kings (the band that's most famous for their singer knocking out Danzig for being a kook http://www.vice.com/read/i-punched-danzig-in-the-face) on bass and vocals.

And Shattered Faith, are simply an SoCal punk rock icon of band. All the bands played great shows and I went away thinking how much better all of them sound live and how hard it is to capture all the energy and talent of these kind of acts in the studio.
