New Rig Day! Because a new guitar deserves a new amp which deserves a new cabinet!
I've been going crazy lately buying stuff. Today I got the final piece of the new rig, a Carvin 2X12 slanted cabinet for my Egnator Renegade, that I got a few days ago, for my Carvin ST300 guitar that I got about 10 days ago.
I'm slowly turning my office into a recording studio. I still have a 1X12 cabinet and Celestion Creamback 75 speaker coming. I sent the Celestion 65 back.

How do you like that Valvetronix amp? My friend has one with a load of built in effects and I found it a bit hard to use.

Do they have any without?

The Valvetronix is a great amp. I thought it was a bit complicated when I first got it, but it's really a piece of cake if you spend a little time with it. You can use it just like a normal amp and just twist knobs until you get something you like, or you can scroll through the presets. If you get a sound you like and want to save it, just hit "write", then select a position to save it in, then hit "write" again. I'm not planning on getting rid of the Vox, I just wanted a full tube amp which is why I got the Egnater.

I just had some questions. I see them all over my local CL and have been thinking about grabbing one.

PM me, I'll try to help. They are a great amp to get started with so you don't need a bunch of pedals and you have a choice of amp sims. At 60 watts you have plenty of power and the Celestion Neo Dog speaker sounds great.
The VC12 pedal really helps if you're going to switch between presets during a song. Plus it holds another 64 presets that you can rotate in and out of the amp. But that's where it gets a bit complicated and a little clunky.

Seems like a dumb question, but I will ask anyway, what is the small black guitar pedal?

A Delta Lab DGFX1. A cheap multi function that keeps coming in handy every once in a while.

Congrats on having such a great rig,the Valvetronix Vox amps are the best modelling amps made and certainly have the most realistic models because the tube is placed in the power amp section as opposed to the preamp section in almost all of the rest of the modelling amp lineup.Vox's reasoning for this is that with the tube in the power amp the signal goes into the tube last which contributes to creating a way more realistic over driven tone when pushed and a more realistic tubelike tone and response from the tube amp models.I have an AD-120-VTH with a 412 BN cabinet loaded with Steve Grindrod designed Wharfedale speakers.Grindrod was behind the design of some of the most iconic Vox and Marshall amps as well as some of Celestion's most popular speakers such as the Greenback and also the Vox Bulldog,he now is producing the Albion amps that are getting rave reviews.

The VC-12 Foot Controller really opens up the tonal possibilities of the Valvetronix series and allows you to program an incredibly large combination of effects in the virtual effects chains that you can program in.The modulation effects such as Leslie,UniVibe, flanger, phase shifter, chorus, vibrato etc. are incredibly true to the original pedals that they are modelled on and the Leslie and IniVibe even ramp up and slow down gradually just like the actual pedals. The wah wah function is also extremely close to the Vox Clyde McCoy wah wah too.

Even though I have gone through the owners manuals of the amp and the VC-12, I still can't program the brutes-which further attests to my Luddite ways-and I end up just using the basic effects functions without the benefit of changing effects chains to different configurations. As I have said many times before Joe Walsh ever said it,"I'm an ANalogue Man In A Digital World." No doubt you have more computer/amp programming skills than I have and can get the full benefits of the vast array of effects and models in the Valvetronix. These amps are pretty well the ideal "Desert Island" amps to have because you have at least 16 of the most desirable amps in the world-even Dumble Overdrive Special-and at least 20 of the best effects and echo/reverb/delay models you'd ever need.I tried out the 70s Marshall setting back to back with my JCM 800,2204 and with a bit of twiddling and tweaking,I got an uncanny likeness to the actual Marshall tone,I imagine that if the 412 BN cabinet was equipped with Celestion Vintage 30s or G-12-L-25s,I really could have nailed the Marshall's tone spot on.The AC-15 and 30 settings are also very true to the real things.I'll never part with my Vox Valvetronix but I wish that I were a bit more digital savy.

Guitslinger, I bought the Vox Valvetronix based on your recommendations, and haven't regretted it once. Thanks.
I only got about an hour to play through my new Egnater and I don't think I'm going to regret getting that either. It seems to suit what I play very well. I've got to bring my pedal board with me tomorrow, so I can put my OD pedals through the front and my Eventide through the loop.

Gotta love Egnater. I love my tweaker 40, although I just had the power transformer go bad. Its a common problem with the Egnaters, so I'd keep an eye on it. But otherwise, great tones and extremely versatile. Thats thing should scream through a 2x12. 8)

I was told that they have changed the transformer they use, and that a new one wouldn't have any problem. I'm hoping that info is correct. That's the main reason I went for a new amp rather than used.
