I don't usually designate "favorites," but if I had to name a favorite blues guitar player it might well be Ronnie Earl. Due to Ronnie's infrequent touring schedule, it's been probably 15 years since I last saw him, and he certainly didn't disappoint. While the current Broadcasters may not be as incredible as the 1990s line-up (tho not many bands are), they are still a pleasure to listen to; particularly keyboard player Dave Limina, who plays foil to Ronnie's stellar guitar work (and at times seemed to get more solos than Ronnie himself). Ronnie's playing has become much more sublime over the years; his moments of being "Mr. Intensity" are fewer and further between, but no less potent. And his playing is unbelievably soulful and beautiful, as are his clean strat tones. There was nary a wasted note, whether he was soloing or playing chord stabs behind someone else. Guests included the great Bobby Radcliff ( who did a magical job channelling Magic Sam) plus two other guitarists, a violin player, and a harmonica player. Very few players can touch the soul the way Ronnie does, and we are lucky to have him around.

Indeed, Ronnie Earl is amazing. UNDER-RATED! One of the BEST out there.
