I am sooooooooo embarrassed. My loving wife laughed at me while I sang an ACDC song today. I always thought the ACDC song lyrics were "Dirty Deek and the Thunder Chiefs" instead of "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap". Kind of weird isn't it???

Bon Scott just rolled over in his grave.
It's the title track of the album, so I guess you haven't seen the cover art.

I had a similar experience with my kids some years ago when I expressed my displeasure of song lyrics that I heard as; "I feel erectional, so come protectional"......they laughed out loud for awhile, and when they regained their composure, they told me that the lyrics were really; "I feel irrational, so confrontational".

I used to enjoy singing along to "Alex the Seal" (Our lips are sealed) by the Gogos.

Yahoo! just featured another article on this topic last week. In the meantime you can browse kissthisguy.com (among other similar sites) for a big collection of mis-heard/misunderstood lyrics.

Maybe you need a hearing test, or better speakers. Lol

It's been that way since the dawn of rock'n roll to my memory.

Ah, mondegreens.

If it makes the OP feel any better, for a long time I thought the song was "Dirty deeds, done with sheep".

Personally, I'm leaning towards the side that prefers music to lyrics, and seldom listen to them, treating voice as another instrument. Mike Oldfield had nonsense lyrics in several of his songs, with words made up to sound good, not impart any meaning whatsoever.

My wife would agree with you on both points. I never wear hearing protection when I fire because I like the sound (thus I do have a little hearing loss). She gets me all the time because I crank the volume really high when I listen to music and she listens to music on like 2 out if 10...

I'm not familiar with that cover. I had the one with the black bars across peoples eyes. It got stolen years ago and I never replaced it.

I think thats what Beck does as well. His lyrics make no sense.
