I played a KC Jag once, and I really, really liked it a lot. The tone was great, and the neck was extremely playable. The only things I did not like about it were the finish and the price.

And a slight correction, the fingerboard radius is 9.5", not 7.25".

What about the finish did you not like?

I'm just not crazy about Fender's sunbursts, to me they look more like brownbursts. I prefer sunbursts with more vivid colors. And I'm not a fan of artificial relicing. But other than that, I thought it was a great guitar. It definitely gave me a bad case of Jag GAS.

I'm not a fan of sunburst myself, partially because they're thirteen to the dozen, but also because sunburst is the first faux aging (relic) that appeared - it was meant to mimic the varnish aging effect on old violins and cellos.
To me, it's no better than fake mother-of-pearl or a Fender Foto Flame. Fake is fake, whether done with spray paint or a photo printer, and it's just as fake even when it looks good.

If I got the jag, I'd get the nos one, not the relic. Even though it would be cool to have an exact replica of Kurt's, I don't like the fake aging. BTW HAPPY BDAY KURT!

Geez, nothing says "culture of consumers" better than the OP. Why not visit his grave site or join a fan club or something.

This is a bit harsh, isn't it? Are you trying to start a fight?

I see nothing wrong with a person seeking out or buying a guitar similar to (or even a replica of) one of their musical heroes.
Several of my purchases (especially when I first started playing) were greatly influenced by the instruments of the people whose sound/tone/vibe I was seeking to emulate.

I don't know if I'd ever buy a "tribute" guitar, but if I needed another Stratocaster, the Jimmie Vaughan model would be very high on my list--not just because I like Jimmie Vaughan (which I do, very much), but because it's one of the best bang-for-the-buck Strats out there.

...and what's wrong with visiting the gravesite of a person you admire? I visited Jimi's and a few others. I don't get your post.
