If two people dumped on any bit of my gear it would only serve as incentive for me to stick around and give it to them for being such elitist tools that can't see beyond their own gear and thinking that only their gear is the best.People like that, in saying such things are only displaying their own ignorance and lack of knowledge of gear in general.Tone snobs are sorry excuses for musicians and truth be told, probably wouldn't be able to tell a Pignose with a 6" speaker from a Marshall 1959 Plexi with 2 1960 cabs in a blind test.

I have a Champion 600 reissue that I have modified to a 5F1 Champ configuration, a heavily modified BDRI (that performs flawlessly), Trainwreck Express and 5F6A clones that I built myself. I also own American, Mexican, and Chinese made guitars. Does that make me a "tone snob"?

Okay so I guess from now on, I'll just say my HRDlx was better than even a Dumble and I can lie and say I never had one issue with it just so I don't hurt someones feelings? And on top of that, maybe we should all keep our opinions to ourselves just in case. That does a huge disservice to Fender and the whole community. Why do you think there is a HRD III series. Because people complained about them. Personally I don't care who likes or dislikes my gear as long as I like it say what you want about it, I promise I won't cry. As far as elitists go, some of my favorite guitars are made out of cigar boxes that I built myself and believe me I'm no woodworker. Also, none of my amps cost me over Eight hundred bucks.

Through the miracle of modern cyber-skullduggery I have determined that 97 forum members have me on their "foe" list.

I'm shooting for an even hundred.

I don't think there is/should be an issue with people describing their experience, good or bad, with an amp, guitar, car, or what have you. I know you and a couple of others dislike anything Hot Rod. I love my BDRI (the Hot Rods grew out of the original Blues Deluxe/Deville) as do others and will defend it against detractors. As long as we don't rag on the people that own them for the sheer fact that they own them, there should be no complaints. Things do get heated sometimes in discussions of various products, and in the end, people should just walk away. I intend to try my best to do just that.

This is really a silly discussion. If someone want to leave because someone doesn't like there amp they should leave. I've learned the good and bad because of a lot of the so called tone snobs here and thank them. And always remember If you like your gear you can keep your gear. I think the op should leave and anyone else who can't take alittle criticism. If you post something expect someone to disagree with what you wrote. Everyone different.

I'll have to go back and take a look, but I do know the term "tone snob" has been tossed about by this threads OP because some of us don't care for the HRD series. I prefer the term "cork sniffer" instead.

Cork Sniffer  Better then Bung sniffer right supro

+1

Leaving because of disagreements over amps seems awfully thin skinned. It reminds me of the guy who decided to leave because we aren't all Christians.

@ Bluesky,I hardly mean that guys like you are tone snobs,I am talking about the people who buy a particular type or brand of guitar or amp and say that anything but isn't worth buying.I have seen on one forum in particular where there is an inordinate number of Fender haters and swear to "their" brand-these are the types that I'm talking about. It is these cretins who not only are showing that they have little on the ball when it comes to overall knowledge of gear but who are doing themselves a great disservice by passing by great gear, but then again they probably couldn't differentiate the tone of a D'Angelico Teardrop from a MIC Walmart beginners box.I have a good representation of amps that cost new anywhere from $50 to over $2,000 and also have guitars in that same price range, but I bought most of them because I loved the tones that they were capable of making.I had a Raven parlor size guitar at one time that only cost me $70 new but the dealer I bought it from had a shipment of 2 dozen or more of this identical "student/beginners" model come in and while tuning them all up,noticed that this one in particular had a tone and projection that was markedly unlike any of the other guitars in the shipment-it sounded like a prestige parlour size guitar that would've cost hundreds more.He had set aside this anomaly for someone who would appreciate it and knowing how guitarded I was he brought it out for me when I came in.I was only looking for a cheap little guitar to take on camping trips as all my other guitars were too old and valuable to take out into the woods but I ended up with a real gem that people always remarked on.Tragically the guitar was stolen from my living room between trips when I was moving house about 30 years ago,I got just as upset about loosing that guitar as I would if they had taken my old '65 Jaguar-well not quite that much-but you get the message.

Yes, it is exactly that type of comment, this time from the OP. There have been many other threads with the same type of comments from others, possibly the ones that the OP was referring to in this thread.

Instead of saying "tone snobs", maybe "those that are particular about their amps" would be less of a personal attack. Or, instead of "shoe gazers" perhaps "hobbyists" would be preferable. In any event, belittling, condescending, questioning their judgement or taste, or talking down to anyone comes across as a personal attack.

Notice that I don't flood the forum, or use every thread as an opportunity to mention how horrible Egnater amps are? Oops, just did.... Also notice that I leave it at the amps themselves and do not question anyone's judgement, taste or family lineage if they want to get one or if they like the one that they have.
