Weapons Control Tech (radar, computers, air-to-air weapons) on the F-101B/F and F-102A. Spent most of time at Griffiss AFB with the 49th FIS. Many TDYs to many places, both far and near. I was with the 49th when we went to the William Tell competition at Tyndall AFB (Panama City, FL) in 1963.

My Dad was USAF stationed at Griffiss AFB, NY from 1960 - 1964

What outfit ? The 416th SAC Bomb Wing, or the Rome Air Development Center, or in the logistics area - it was being phased out during the early '60s.

Probably the 416th, he was a B-52 Mechanic at the time.

My next door neighbor. I worked out of the Armaments & Electronics (A&E) Building located next to the SAC area - right next to the gate to their alert area. We had a one plane hanger to perform extended work on the F-101s when they had electronic issues. We got to watch lots of elephant walks when they would launch the entire SAC wing - very impressive. We also had a rail siding located outside of the A&E building - once every 6 months 2 special SAC rail cars would be delivered to allow SAC crews to fly a B-52 and KC-135 simulator. When it was on site, it ran 24x7 to run almost every crew thru the simulator.

It's a small world ... :D

That's cool. I don't remember a lot of anything from then as I was only 8 years old when we left there. We lived on Mars Dr. in base housing, that's about as much as I remember.
