Joe plays all sorts of guitars here is a list:

(Huge list of guitars)

And yes I thought the program was Brillant

I thought Joe Walsh and Gary Clark Jr., and Dave Grohl's While My Guitar Gently Weeps was the highlight of the show. Some of the others (Katy Perry, Maroon 5) doing Beatles songs made me nauseous.

We saw Joe Walsh in concert in 2012. He was absolutely awesome. His equipment guy came out and handed him a different guitar for every song. I had no idea what some of them were. There were the obvious Strats and Les Pauls. But there were a lot of others. I couldn't keep track of them!

Paul and Ringo visited David Letterman who does his show in the Ed Sullivan Theater. They remembered the studio being two or three times larger than it really was.

Hmm, Paul didn't seem nauseous as he sang along with the new generation of musicians.
I don't think Ringo thought it was blasphemy. In fact the whole show looked like a huge party, which is what it was, a celebration, not a religious ceremony.

Taking nothing away from them professionally, I personally didn't see any connection between these artists and George Harrison, nor Jon Mayer and Keith Urban for that matter. I'd have given the honors to Tom Petty, Mike Campbell and The Heartbreakers and Jeff Lynne to commemorate George's work for obvious reasons. Had Richie Havens not passed, he would have been my choice for 'Here Comes The Sun". I also recognize Carl Perkins as the writer and originator for Ringo's "Matchbox", and Eric Clapton for the guitar solo on "My Guitar Gently Weeps". Facts that the unsophisticated in the audience were likely unaware of.

Must be some connection with Joe.

And I think Dave Grohl was included just because he kind of looks like George.

From the hand-holding down there, perhaps the connection wasn't to George. Walsh has a track record of intimacies with ladies in the industry. The photo certainly does support my comments with respect to Jeff Lynne and Tom Petty.

Definitely. The only thing I can figure is that they didn't want to (for some personal reason) or couldn't do the gig.

Doc, please excuse this rant!
But all the esoteric, cork sniffing, Monday morning quarter back reasoning aside, doesn't take away from the fact that Walsh, Grohl and Gary did a fine job covering the song! I felt like I was watching a band. I'd love to go see those guys in a club together.
But I agree, I also wondered whether EC was asked to do the show. Seems like a no brainer to me.

No argument here that they're individually and collectively fine artists. I had the feeling that Petty and company would have given it more of a Harrison vibe.

I don't blame Cynthia and Julian for snubbing the event at all.

The show was as good as these things ever are. I enjoyed it.

Joe Walsh's strat-type guitar didn't seem to have any logo, so no telling what it was.

As for choice of performers, some do it out of respect, others to promote themselves.

A big shout out to Frampton and Lukather.

I liked the chance to compare and contrast Mayer and Urban side by side.
