It was 50 years ago today at the tender age of 9 that my destiny was pretty well mapped out for me and I decided that I was going to become a musician and it was because of 4 young men from Liverpool who called themselves The Beatles. Two of them in particular really riveted my attention that day and from that night on John Lennon and Gerge Harrison would play enormous roles in shaping me into the person I am today.Their outlooks and philosophies made so much sense to me and appealed to me so much that I adopted many of them myself-especially their deep and strong concern about social and political issues, human rights and the plight of the world's hungry and oppressed. I have involved myself in many of these issues myself and always will.

They led me down the path that would bring me more joy and satisfaction than anything else in my life and that's music and just being a musician.I had always loved music but they inspired me to broaden my musical horizons and fully explore the boundless amount of musical diversity in our world.Because of George's interest in the music of other cultures-especially Indian music-I have embraced the music of other cultures and often insert snipits of it into what I am playing at any given time.Anyway on this day I will honor the music of the Beatles and I will always love them and will eternally owe them a huge debt of gratitude for inspiring me to become a musician on that cold and fateful February night in 1964.Thankyou and God Bless The Beatles.

Fifty years ago, I was a 12 year old, dazed and confused kid, that spent as much time listening to rock on my dad's car radio in the driveway and staring at the musical instruments and bra ads in the Sears catalog. When I saw all of those girls screaming at The Beatles playing guitars, I knew I was on to something!
Now I'm 62 and not that much has changed actually. :)

I was two weeks shy of 12 watching The Beatles. That turned out to be maybe one of the most significant sociological events in the 20th century, other than Apollo 11, with Armstrong, and Aldrin walking on the moon. Image
It was the first time I didn't argue about watching "The Ed Sullivan Show".

I was just a li'l thing, only 3 years old when the Beatles were on Ed Sullivan. I kind of vaguely remember it, but I was there watching it, along with everybody else in the US. Looking back, I think I was more confused as to why my dad was angry and saying nasty things at the TV, and why my oldest sister (age 13) was screaming and crying and going crazy! 8)

I had been playing with some friends and doing
instrumental music (Shadows, Ventures, etc) and
after *that* night, we all started singing too.

I was not born yet. Only 5 years later. But I know The Beatles changed the landscape of music.

I was -8 at that time :P , but I'm sure my older sister(s) watched it. I remember one of them was a huge fan and had a giant Revolver poster on her wall at one of her places and all of the albums.

I honestly can't remember. We didn't have a television set back then - I was too young to afford one, and the Pater Familias did not buy one until the moon landing.

I don't think I really discovered The Beatles until I saw A Hard Day's Night, though. With some young pretty girl, me supplying the ride, paying the tickets and buying a soda, all with the hope to sneak an arm around her shoulders halfway through the show. And now she's probably a grandma, and has forgotten me as much as I her.

.........yah....and you DON'T want to go there. Using FB to look back has been nothing less than a 'shocking' experience with some. :?

In the fight of Grandma vs Gravity, put your money on Gravity.

But in my memory, they were pretty enough to be worshiped. So that's where I keep'em - always young, beautiful and coy, with skin soft as peaches, and a smile that turned me into water.

Damn you, doc, now I feel there's another song to write :)

Gravity is what Marilyn Monroe told her photographer she was fighting. Write your song.
