I am back a bit so I need some help in picking a first car for myself. I like older vehicles that are big tanks of things and can drive away even with a dented bumper. the bummer is I only have $100 to spend. Which is a hilarious challenge but if I do come through then I would buy a car. I saw a Datsun 120Y coupe with another for parts. and the other car runs but needs a lot of parts to be road legal. I only want a vehicle that I can use to paddock bash. because I've never had the opportunity to. but my Mum had lived those days so I want to live them as well. Starting with $100 for the base vehicle I want to make some ghetto modifications using things around the house.

Though there had historically been a bit of wiggleroom, the Lounge Forum is reserved for general, music related discussions. Your inquiry is straightaway outside of the box. Best wishes on your search.
Doc.

Sell all your amps and guitars or get mommy to buy you this:

And to keep it music related:

I thought Australia had a car wreck deposit that was more than that.
Never mind registration and insurance.

If all you have is $100, buy a used bike. From experience, one with a frame sturdy and flat enough that a girl can sit sideways on it.

A hundred bucks should get you a pretty nice car and it will have fairly good paint, no rust.
Seriously.
It will be a die-cast car but it will still be a car.
That's a used di-cast model car by the way and not a very popular one at that.

When I was a young buck there was a such thing as a POS $100 car.
The same calibre of used car nowadays runs about $1,500 - $2000 and it will still be a POS.
$100 should buy you a bus pass though.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Our infrequently heard from member 'airbornestrat' would certainly have some input here I am sure.

Send me $100 and pay for the shipping and I'll sell you one of the tires (tyres) from the truck that I wrote off back in December-lots of luck finding a $100 car-I pay more than that for 1/18 die-cast car models.

BTW: Just to keep it somewhat music related, for $100 you may be able to find a half decent used car stereo.

+1

These vehicles were known colloquially as "beaters".

I owned several.

Wise words. Let's keep it guitar related here on the Forum.

I'd definitely pay $100 for this car. If not less.

Cheers - C

Mate, cheap cars are expensive to own and dangerous.

You'd be forever dipping your hand in your pocket (and not for the usual reasons).

It seems a bit headstock heavy, and the neck is really flat and short scale.
So, its a Gibson, right?

Anyhow, cheap cars isn't necessarily off topic here.
