Hi, I'm looking into buying a pedal to make my solos a bit louder as they tend to get a lost in the mix at the moment and I want them to stand out more. Has anyone got any recommendations? :)

Fulltone offers some of the best clean boost pedals available. I use the OCD but they have several other excellent models.

I'm very happy with my Xotic EP Booster.

The solution I like is a simple passive resistor network to give a preset 6 to 12dB cut in level between the preamp and power amp, effectively a preset master volume control.

Wire that to a footswitch and use it the other way from a boost pedal, effectively just cutting the level when you don't want it boosted ... if that makes any sense! Total cost about £5 compared to £££$$$£$$ for a "boutique" boost pedal, plus the advantage of no battery and zero active components to colour the sound.

MXR Micro Amp works for me...I love it! It doesn't color the tone; I call it a "More Of Me" pedal.

I have a friend with the Keeley Katana, slightly different setup/design of the pedal, plus an extra pull-out-the-knob-and-it-gets-aggressive feature.

Boosta Grande... or just get a volume pedal and rock it up when you solo...

+1 for Boosta Gande. Frank's idea sounds good. I wonder why no one sells it?

Volume knob on you guitar works well. TS-808 tube screamer works well also. I have the overdrive turned way down and it just gives enough boost for solos.

The Spark seems great for clean boost.

I was considering a Keeley Bootlegger, but really, when I need boost, I can just use the boost on my fuzz pedal.

Set guitar volume to 5 or 6. Set amp at whatever volume is needed to get your "normal" volume level. When you want a boost, turn the guitar volume to 10. No other pedals or cables needed. :D

NEVER do for free what you could also accomplish by acquiring new guitar gear! 8)

As you dial the volume down, you also lose treble, which you won't get back by turning up the amp. And you lower the signal to noise ratio.
Sending a strong signal from the guitar reduces the amount of bleed and keeps noise down too.

Most guitar players keep the volume at top for good reason, and only use the knob for when they need to reduce volume, or to match the "sweet spot" for overdrive/fuzz.
