I'd like to know the reasons behind it, I mean it's not due to their skill or anything, we know they are very gifted musicians and used to playing to massive crowds. I've seen them live a few times and they have always been live and always been great.

I like that they at least pulled their amp leads out so it was at least obvious, I'd imagine faking it wasn't what they wanted to do.

As the article says, they had no choice.
Superbowl, Olympic ceremonies and pretty much every big event these days will be playback, due to episodes where the artist played something not agreed on or made a political statement.

The Chilis are not a bad you would necessarily want to rely on playing something exactly as expected either

The NFL should count themselves lucky they at least had pants on.

I didn't need that article to prove that--just watching that guitarist having some sort of grand mal seizure while "playing" Give It Away made me say, "Chicken Pants! He ain't playin'!!!"

Oh well, it isn't the first and it won't be the last...

I was glad that Flea was wearing more than just a sock...yes, singular sock...

It would have been better if Bruno Mars wasn't there. He should take his own lyrics seriously and jump in front of a train.

I disagree, but that's funny...

I thought Bruno was good, gave me the old Motown feeling

I'd rather have it the other way around.

You want a train to jump in front of Bruno Mars?

Hm.

I saw a peanut stand, heard a rubber band,
Seen a needle that winked its eye.
But...

Hahaha, sorry. I should have clipped the quote. I'd have rather the Peppers not shown up. Or to use a more appropriate example. They should've stayed under the bridge.

I didn't know, and don't care. I was out walking the dogs during halftime. I think I made the right choice. ImageImage

As I posted in the other thread:

"That SuperBowl gig might be the toughest show to pull off. The stage has to appear from nowhere in a matter of seconds and there is no real time soundcheck. Performers are asked to jump up cold in harsh conditions and deliver magic."

I had the same thought, I have seen the Red Hot's many times and twice with Josh. Sure he can flail away pretty well but that was insane. No one can play like that while having a seizure. I did like the pink strat though.
