Hey gang,

During the 2014 NAMM Show, we rolled out our latest addition to Fender's pro audio product line, the Passport® Studio. We're excited to give you a sneak preview of these powerful and portable studio monitors, which are ideal for next-generation producers and engineers looking to transport gear from session to session with ease.

Aside from the lightweight front-ported enclosure themselves, the Passport Studio's world-class set of FOCAL® drivers and flat frequency response ensure that every nuance of your performance environment will be perfectly replicated. Not to mention, front-panel knobs keep tonal control within reach at all times.

Budding producers and pros alike—check out the Passport Studio page for more info! Thanks all!

I watched the video about these when it was released. These are pretty nifty. The Passport is a nice PA and I like the concept applied with these. This could be very handy.

For that price, I'd expect both bi-amped and XLR inputs as well as 1/4".
Actually, for half that price, I'd expect that.

$800 might seem expensive, but there are actually studio monitors that go into the thousands. It would depend on the quality of these to see if they are worth it. At least the idea is quite sound.

All of which have an amp in each speaker, not a single amp and a dumb second cab, like $29.99 home PC speakers do. For studio work, engineers want the speakers to sound the same, and that they can be adjusted individually. And the ability to buy a single spare.

Also:

Where's the XLR input? Anything costing $250 or more should have that.

They have to sound really good compared to the competition to become a success. They might - I don't know. But there is a lot speaking against this from my point of view.

You do have a strong point, there. That is definitely true about studio monitors. I wasn't thinking about the fact that they are designed like regular computer speakers. That could be problematic. Yeah, now I can see why the price would be questionable. Those would have to be good quality speakers to be worth it, sans the lack of those other features, not just paying extra because of the name plate.

Actually, I just checked and that is just the list price. I'm sure it will be roughly $200 cheaper or so. I've noticed that is usually the discount rate on Fender crap.

I would not pay $ 800. for a set of them. Get the top of the line Rotkit for less. They are field proven.

Hi Kevin, I looked at those Rokit monitors and they are pretty cool looking. I couldn't find a price list but their (KRK) gear comes with some good recommedations.
I should have said that I like those Fender monitors for myself because of portability and ease of use and I really do like the way they look. I think you would be happy with the Rokit's though, I wouldn't mind seeing a review should you decide to get those. :D 8)

Hi! Yes I bought a set of the 5" monitors at $149.00 for a small one man studio and they are great! Yes self powered I run them through my Lexicon inter face and laptop. I have a mustang II amp. Very happy! Guitar Center is where I got them.

Thankyou for the update Kevin! There is a "How do you post pictures?" thread on one of these pages lol, I used photobucket for a long time but now it won't let me upload any photos. I will look for that thread.

I will do my best to get you some shots of my little studio! I made it with very little money. Just a spot in my basement. It works.
