The one thing that sucks about Gibson, is they didn't put out that SGJ when I bought my Squier Custom Tele. It's only $499, which is only $200 more and it's still made in the US. I liked what I heard on the demo, too. It sounds pretty nice to me. I'm sure it doesn't have all of the bells and whistles like the more expensive models, but who cares? I think that's cool that they are offering a lot of guitars under $1000 these days.

I had an SG Jr. in 1968. Pelham Blue. A great guitar.

Wow, it's too bad you still don't have it. I wonder how much that would be worth today?

The SG Jr. was better than I was. Six stringers, and myself didn't get along to well. Just a nice plain guitar.

Obviously by your equipment list you cant afford them so to justify this to yourself you put down the product you cant aquire, nice.

you can't just someone by what they play. and don't worry bro, i have played plenty of gibsons to know what they are about. also, i used to own a fender std am jazz bass, and an american deluxe jazz bass. but felt they really were very comparable to the higher end squier. To be honest one of the best basses i have ever played is my squier P bass special. so don't be so quick to judge a book by its cover.

and is acquire*

No, I'm judging it by the first chapter, which quite frankly has such a bad vibe to it that I want to toss the book.
If Gibsons suck for you, it's because you're not good enough to handle the Gibsons you've tried. There are obviously quite a few Gibson players who manage to get great tones out of their instruments. You're not one of them. That is not because of an inadequacy in the instrument.
That's no position from where to posture and make categorical statements.

I wish you could come back in a few years and see what you wrote.
In the mean time have fun with your Squier and Peavey until you abandon your dreams. Because with your attitude, you most certainly won't live them.

Don't let the elitist clowns on this site push you around. Great tone is subjective, and people play what works for them. There are plenty of great players who I think get straight up awful tones. That isn't just limited to Gibson players. People like what they like.

"Can't handle or can't afford a Gibson"? Hahahah, the people on this site kill me. I'm sure they're so busy "living out their dreams" of rock n' roll stardom that they have hours to post on this page. You know, the dreams of schlocking someone else's work like a wind up monkey banging cymbals.

Listen. Even if your opinion is wrong, you have a right to it. Backing down because the catty schoolgirls and gear snobs get their claws out isn't the way to go. Why don't you like Gibsons? I explained my reasons on why I don't like their basses. I think they are well made, but not well designed as they are designed like larger versions of their guitars and what makes a good guitar doesn't necessary make a good bass.

If you don't dig Gibson tone, or their playability. What is it you don't like?

If an eliteist is someone that doesnt waste money on cheap import crap then thats me.
I dont buy the most expensive stuff because Im a working stiff but I would rather have 5 top quality guitars than 10 budget imports just to say I have 10 guitars.
Thats just common sense.

It does. However, what those guitars are depends on what you like. If he doesn't like Gibson. There's probably a reason. Whether it be people he has heard that other's may think of as "great" and not liking them. Or personal experience. As far as taking shots at someone's gear list as cheap imported crap. You play through a Line 6 rig. I'm sure it's a really nice rig and you make it sound great. Just like the poster you are trying to put down probably makes his Peavy rig sound great, too.
