I have it cranked to 10, and it still just isn't enough. I don't really want to go with that separate reverb unit because a) it's expensive as hell b) it alters the tone more than just adding reverb. Pedals are gross for reverb unless you want Flerb or reverse reverb imo

I want to add more of the reverb I get from the amp, basically. I don't want something with it's own, unique reverb sound, I want it to sound like my amp already does, just in a vortex of echoey, springy goodness. How would I go about doing this, how risky would it be doing it myself, and how much would it set me back?

Maybe your reverb tank is defective. Get a new tank.

Clearly you're talking about modding the amp's reverb circuit, you'd need to increase the gain of the stage after the tank. The schematic I have shows a 12AX7 with the two sections paralleled, you could maybe tweak that so it's two separate gain stages but you'd most likely need to use a 12AT7 or even 12AU7 to avoid it turning into a distortion channel. You'd need plate decoupling too as that tube's plates are fed from the same point as at least one other tube in the preamp.

Or ... there's a 1M resistor after the reverb knob that acts as a mix resistor. Maybe try another 1M in parallel with that.

Wait a while, you'll get over it. I like reverb, I can't imagine playing in front of people with it on 10. Sorry I'm not being helpful, but I truely find that a lot of my "good" ideas seem less stellar after some time passes. Just sayin'. :)

This is a good answer.

It also applies to a lot of the crazy guitar modding ideas people post here. Give it a week and you won't really want three phase switches and series/parallel rotary selector on the back of the headstock with a second tremolo arm hidden inside the pickup cavities.

Pedals aren't all bad. I use one of these:

Then again, I hate the spring reverb sound quite passionately, and much prefer a reverb that actually sounds like you're in a big room with reverb.

I dunno, when I play with 5 amps in my little space I have 3 outboard Fender Reverb Tanks, plus the one built into my Vibro-King for four, then the PA feed has effects on it too...

If it sounds good, Play It!

Amp 1: '63 Bassman 6g6b following a 62 reverb driving a '62 2x10 tremolux cab for clean (next to me at low level)..

Amp 2: Vibro-King with a 2x12 extension, also feeding the PA (The PA is a set of JBL 4430's, some Altecs, and more JBL's with a subwoofer system; all set up so that you would not believe that it sounds good, but it is a perfectly matched and balanced in phase system for cinema playback... (in case you want to watch a movie)

Amp 3: '64 Concert after another ('66) Reverb unit

Amp 4: '64 Matched blonde Showman set (Tank, Head, 15"tone Ring Cab)

Amp 5: '62 Bassman 6g6a driving a 67 2x15 Fender cab

So with this set up you can see why my Marshalls don't get much play... LOL.. neither do allot of my other Fenders...

The point of it all is that every amp sounds good and has a certain tone, plus when you stand up and walk around ( or even sitting) you can throw the bass, treble and mids all around the room just by default. So hit your low E, and it envelopes you from the sides and rear. The High e goes tends to come out right where you are or from the front, and the mids blend in all around.

Hit the Eventide H9 or one of the various other effect pedals for various cool sounds, some of which that can swirl the whole soundscape around your head if you want.

I should probably sell some of this stuff I don't play regularly, but Its fun to have the stuff, and sometimes I switch out cabs and amps, and besides, hand-wired tube amps aren't getting any cheeper...

Oh yea, I forgot.... it's easy to get all wrapped up in getting a certain tone, but once you have a decent amp of any kind, its all in your fingers...

For instance the little 65 Fender Princeton I just picked up doesn't really distort on it's own, but it has great Fender cleans, can sound like a piano, a harmonica, or an actual harp depending on how your playing...

Sorry to have taken this thread off track. I started reading it because it was about a Supersonic 60.

I have one and love it, even though it has had no play time for around a year now.

I have to remember to light it up so it doesn't go stale pretty soon...

Sometimes I get over-exuberant... OCD, GAS, you name it...

Plus it seems I always want 2...

Yea, sometimes I wake up in the morning with a guitar still in my hands...

And the funny thing is... I'm pretty sure I was playing it while I was sleeping too...

Gilga frank is on the right track. The simplest and least invasive way would be to reduce the dry guitar signal after the split to Reverb, but before the reverb re-joins the signal path, (a potential divider network of resistors could do). This means that the ratio of REVERB to DRY is higher giving you more reverb to mix in. The values you would need will depend on your taste.
