Since I'm getting a new head, I thought I'd offer my old one for trade.

I got this heavily modded 1996 Squier 50th Anniversary Stratocaster for it.

Honestly, I don't like Seymour Duncan pickups, I'd rather have Dimarzios, but they sound good. The bridge, tuners and jack plate all look like Gotoh, and there are USA style roller string trees on it.

My only real complaints are the pickups and the fact that the original owner sanded off the headstock. Maybe those ugly knobs too. (they also get in the way of the trem arm)

It sounds good, and plays well. I guess that's all that matters, right?

I'm fairly happy with it, but I'm definitely swapping those knobs. Pickups are a possible future endeavor. I'd like an S/H setup with 2 bridge pickups. (SDS-1, full sized Super Distortion)

When I'm by my PC. Restringing atm.

And it's just a plain headstock except for "stratocaster" now.

Gonna paint it and put a plain, simple, "Squier" on it. Nothing more.

Possibly the stigma of playing a Squier was too unbearable for the previous owner.
Are you sure it's a Squier ?

Yes, it's a small bodied Korean. It has the small body, wide, flat, maple capped neck, and the old hex back tuner holes.

Just like the '92 I briefly had.

It honestly bothers me that the headstock was sanded. This guitar is in such great shape except for that.

Why?

Perhaps it said "MADA IN U.S.A."?

Or it was a serious BMW owner. But in that case the "STRATOCASTER" part would be gone too.

I never had that question in the first place. I knew from A: the smaller body, B: the wide, flat, maple capped neck, and C: the previous tuner holes (EXACTLY LIKE THE 1992 KOREAN MADE STRATOCASTER I BRIEFLY OWNED) what it was.

Now, will someone help me track down a waterslide logo before my testicles explode from stress?

Buxom, I think he was refering to "Why someone sanded the headstock logo off" - because it was a Korean "Squire".

Try E-Bay for waterslides, heck you could choose a Fender one, but there is nothing wrong with putting "Squire" back on too.

I think you have a great guitar to mod to your hearts content.

Nice guitar-you're right about the black controls, they don't exactly do anything for the esthetics of the guitar.I think that you should really give the Duncan's a chance, they'll certainly grow on you. When you say that you prefer DiMarzios I take it that you go for a more distorted sound but if I were you,I'd keep the S.Ds. and use a pedal. A while back the salesman in my local music store took a new Duncan equipped Tele off the rack and plugged it into an AC-15 and I was blown away by the clean tone that came from it.This $270 Tele sounded better than most of the $1,200 Teles that they had in stock, the tone was so full that it sounded like it was going through an amp with 4 presence controls on it,it was that good.I imagine that your Strat has the same effect.I'm sure that some day down the road, you'll learn to appreciate the fullness of a clean tone and will be kicking yourself if you get rid of the Duncans now.

Anyway congrats on your new guitar-she certainly qualifies as a keeper.Enjoy!!!!!

BTW: I have S.Ds. in 2 of my guitars and I am hooked on them and when they are put through a good distortion or overdrive pedal such as my '70 Big Muff Pi,80s Marshall Guv'nor or my Way Huge Green Rhino, they sound phenominal, the Duncan's super clean high output really drives the pedals to get the sweetest overdrive and distortion tones that you have ever heard.
