Nothing to do with price. You couldn't give me a Blues Jr either, especially a used one. Too many have been modded. Sorry, too boxy sounding for my taste. I don't buy anything based on price or name brand for that matter. I sat and played with a Vaporizer for an hour and it wasn't doing a thing for me. The sales guy told me kids buy them because they look cool.

Well, I am certainly not a kid. I don't know if that was supposed to be some dig at me or not.

I honestly don't see what all of the fuss is about. I think the amp sounds fine. I've used it to jam with, and now to record with. Is it a Twin Reverb? No, obviously it is not. Does it suit the purpose that we used it for? Absolutely. A dumb little tube amp. Obviously we're all entitled to opinions, but I think a lot of the response to the vaporizer is just pure snobbery.

I liked the sound you got on the guitars. A mix of that 60's style with a more New York Dolls, or Clash type harshness. It works. The bass on the other hand was lacking. Not sure if it's the amp or the bass. A hofner with flats isn't a P or J, but it's also no slouch in the tone department usually. This seemed very thin and weak. Perhaps the speaker isn't properly voiced for bass?

My impression of those recordings is reminiscent of listening to the Ohio Express's "Yummy Yummy Yummy" through the 1.75" PM speaker in a 5-transistor Sony pocket radio on my way from home-room to my locker to grab my algebra book for first period.

If that was the intended vibe, then hearty congratulations are in order.

Yes, but before slide-rules were invented, they used the abacus.

I got one on my desk. It even sees use sometimes.
Unlike a calculator or cell phone calculator app, it never runs out of batteries, and works in biting cold or blinding sunlight.

Anyone who plays through vacuum tubes shouldn't scoff at older technology - it often has its use cases and advantages for specific situations. Just sayin!

I liked your songs, listened to them all.
Cool sound.

Brings to my mind the 60's for sure, edgier.

Make the songs and sounds you like. If you have a sound that makes a 60 year old happy you probably won't be and you'll miss the largest market you're probably more interested in. You'd probably want to take a pass on 60 year old groupies as well.

Be nice. This 60 year old groupie likes it. Reminds him of the 60s. :D

Ignore them at your peril.
According to RIAA, the largest music buying group they keep track of are the well mature, and it's growing while the group of younger buyers shrink. In ten years, 45+ buyers have been going from one out of four of all records bought to one out of three. And that doesn't take into account all the younger people who likes the old sound.

Let's take a look at today's top 20 sales chart from one of the biggest online retailers:

1: Bruce Springsteen
2: Jennifer Nettles
3: Daft Punk
4: Frank Sinatra
5: Rosanne Cash
6: Kacey Musgrave
7: Elton John
8: The Mamas and the Papas
9: Robin Thicke
10: Michael Schenker
11: Boston
12: Roy Orbinson
13: John Denver
14: Beegie Adair
15: Dan Fogelberg
16: Lorde
17: The Beatles
18: Eminem
19: Bruno Mars
20: Buddy Guy

Now take a look at this list once more, then tell me with a straight face that if you have a sound that makes 60 year olds happy, you'll miss the largest market. You're wrong, wrong and wrong.

I agree with Arth1, but only PARTIALLY, and here's why:
If you look at that list, most of the older and/or deceased artists that are selling well are selling to (1) a memory and sense of nostalgia and (2) a mixed and multi-generational group of consumers.
When a (non-musician*) person my age or older (I'm 43) buys a Bruce Springsteen album (whether old or new release), they are generally buying the nostalgia of where they were and what they were doing when they first heard "Born To Run" or "Glory Days". A person my age is often buying the Sinatra album because it takes them back to listening to such music with their grandparents. That's not saying the music isn't good, rather it's saying they're buying it for sentimental reasons.

Likewise, when a younger person (under thirty) person is buying the Mamas & The Papas album or a Beatles album, it's partially nostalgia (reminds them of a time they've only read about or seen in movies/TV shows), partially developing a musical foundation (learning about the music that influenced the next generation of music), and partially because they're hearing the qualities of music that they don't commonly hear today, whether it is musicianship, recording techniques, songwriting ability or just (generally) something better (not to say new or newer music isn't good, but this list often represents the best of the best).

My daughter (the 12-year-old Armadillo 'Tween) listens to almost everything on that list, not just because I'm influencing her choices in music, but because (in her words), "[Frank Sinatra/Roy Orbison/the Beatles/fill-in-the-blank] rocks!"

Young people are buying those old CDs/LPs, too--because thy recognize good music when they hear it, even if some of the "hits" of their own generation don't always reflect it.

*I said "non-musicians" because we, as muscians, will generally give any- and every-thing a listen, especially an old(er) artist who influenced their guitar/instrument heroes. We're open-minded and harshly critical at the same time (I'll listen to anything, but if it is bad, I judge it harshly).

Which is not to say you wouldn't be a successful gigging band with your style and sound...you have a great vibe and, as I said earlier, I would go see a band like yours (especially if you put on a good show and have some stage presence).

Seconded. Nothing wrong with your style if you and the audience have a good time!
