 BUT, certainly not cheaper! :(

I enjoyed the music....very talented group, but the Vaporizer sound doesn't appeal that much to me. :|

Sure was cheap, the best ninety bucks I ever made her spend!!
I've got an incredible woman now going on 28 years! Some of us make mistakes first time around.

Also don't 'get' this:

I liked the song, and I liked the guitar sound ... I just don't like that guitar sound for that song.

Nah, not really. I get Jack White. Even the amps White uses are classics. Silvertone, Valco etc. not some cheesy tinny sounding buzz box. I tried a Vaporizer and it ain't no Silvertone Twin 12. I had one for a long time and sold it for $25 way back. I'm such a dumbass..

Loved the music! Very retro/60's sound, feel and instrumentation. I would go see your band play a gig, and I've already turned a couple of people on to your music (awaiting their response and review). Good job, especially for a debut EP...

As for the Vaporizer amps (and this is purely my humble opinion):
The clean tones were pretty decent. They sounded good for the recording, and "bedded within" the song well.
The dirty tones were less than decent. Very little personality and somewhat sterile and one-dimensional. Little or no note definition, which made the guitar parts sound unfocused and sloppy, even though the playing was excellent.

Please don't take this as criticism or your music--I loved the songs!
...and if you're happy with the amps, good for you--I have certain gear I love that other people don't, so I understand.

I still like the looks of the Vaporizer...I would still like to hear one "in the flesh" (or would that be "in the Tolex"?)...

I like it! I think it works in the confines of this style, you guys nailed the sound, its just fun music to listen, and i bet to play too.

I hear the bass just fine, those computer speakers might be the culprit there.

Thanks! I was gonna say, I can hear the bass just fine. I've heard it just fine on every device I've listened on as well.

We were going for more of a "budget" sound, more of a 60's garage pop. I think it works well.

Honestly, I'm surprised to see such positive feedback on our sound. The retro thing really works for us.

Rock-n-roll! Sounds real good. Takes me back to my yute. In fact, I heard and liked Tobacco Road way back then. 12 hours? A go getter. Good luck in your future. :D

Thanks! Tobacco Road felt like it fit in nicely with what we were trying to do. Especially picking a sort of "obscure" song. I mean, it's not The Beatles, Stones, or Kinks... ya know?

Same here actually. It's something we talked about, but here's our issue with twin reverbs: the weight and the price.

So, from the posts I am getting the idea that very few of you would purchase a Pawn Shop amp at new price when you could get a good condition used Blues Jr. for the same price?

I can't speak for others, but price has nothing to do with why I don't want one.

Me too, as far as the Vaporizer. I own both an Excelsior (w/ an Eminence 1518) and a Blues Jr. (converted to a head) and like both. I really dislike the sound of the Vaporizer, especially with the tone stack switched out....very harsh to my ears.

Nothing to do with price. You couldn't give me a Blues Jr either, especially a used one. Too many have been modded. Sorry, too boxy sounding for my taste. I don't buy anything based on price or name brand for that matter. I sat and played with a Vaporizer for an hour and it wasn't doing a thing for me. The sales guy told me kids buy them because they look cool.

Well, I am certainly not a kid. I don't know if that was supposed to be some dig at me or not.

I honestly don't see what all of the fuss is about. I think the amp sounds fine. I've used it to jam with, and now to record with. Is it a Twin Reverb? No, obviously it is not. Does it suit the purpose that we used it for? Absolutely. A dumb little tube amp. Obviously we're all entitled to opinions, but I think a lot of the response to the vaporizer is just pure snobbery.

And again, thanks for the positive response to our music! We're talking about doing an album next... we'll see what other weird amps we can use. Any suggestions?

Don't take offense, that's what the salesman told me, not my personal opinion. Personally I don't care who plays them. There's no snobbery with me. I build a lot of my own stuff including most of my own pedals, not because I'm a tone snob, but because I enjoy it and the bonus is my stuff so far has been really reliable.. If you read my original post, I said "I LIKED YOUR MUSIC", what I didn't care for was how the instruments sounded. I didn't feel it did your music justice and lost a lot of complex tonal nuances. Catchy stuff. I don't do personal digs at anyone, but I can be brutally honest when it comes to tone. I even use 1 watt amps mounted in Altoid cans and play guitars made out of cigar boxes, so snobbery isn't it. I don't like the HRD series either. I had a bad experience with mine that left a bad taste in my mouth.
