Everyone knows the game Guitar Hero...Right?
Well, do guitarists have some sort of competitive edge because of our lightning speed and eye boggling accuracy?

Just curious.

idk....personally, i'm pretty bad at the game! haha so are some of my other friends who play guitar. I know several guitarists who do really well, but I'm not sure if that has anything to do with musical ability, or just practice...

I think they have nothing to do with each other.

Playing a video game about guitar isn't even close to the real thing.

I think GH makes you worse at guitar.

Personally I kind of hate Guitar Hero, takes away the real meaning of a guitar. And I feel better about myself when I learn something on the real thing than playing a song on "expert" and beating it.

I think you would be much better off putting all the time spent on a video game, towards real guitar playing.

I think its uncorrelated. Being good at skateboarding doesn't make you good at skateboarding video games, and vice versa.

My opinion about GH is yeah, its kinda fun, but I am gonna put hours into learning Through the fire and the Flames by Dragonforce, its going to be on the real deal not a cheap hunk of plastic with buttons

We have three PS3's in the house so I play that and other games
2 or 3 times a week and I am lousy at them all compared to my
teenage son.

It's a good finger exercise, but I think I'm worse at it because I'm used to the frets on my guitars, not little plastic ones. It still is a fun game to play with friends though.

Not even close.

Plus I hear Eddie Van Halen completely sucks at it.
