How about a maple neck version with an ash body, 2-tone burst finish and gold anodized guard

(pictured guitar is an original '58 four-string mandostrat - not mine).

Talk about timing! Met this Irish guy, play with him on the beach. Mandolin volume sets how loud the rest of us play, or quiet.... didn't know this was new, saw on web other day. He is intrigued and may just have me pick one up next trip back to states. BTW is it a bolt on neck? (could look that up, but writing this!). Electric dulcimer in the pipeline?

Mandostrats are bolt-ons.

My girlfriend's dad has a mandolin I like playing around with. Love the sound (although I don't play it like it's "supposed to" be played), and this is something I would buy for sure. I'm just imagining all the cool things I could do with one of these :D

Hopefully one will show up at a local store so I can try it out.

And +1 on an electric banjo. That's just entering a whole new spectrum of wierd.

This is way cool!

I never under stood why Fender didn't offer their first electric mandolin in an 8 string version back in the '60's.

The doubled strings are an integral part of the mandolin sound.

This thing is far from classic! But my be freaky enough to be fun. I play banjo, guitar and mandolin in bands. My mandolin was made in the 1930's a F 5 type. I sure would give this a spin!
