Got a Big Muff, already looking to sell it.

It makes my cleans sound like solid state gain, and my gain sound like $@!.

No real loss taken on my part, as it was a trade for cymbals I have no use for.

Big Muffs can differ a lot depending on who made them, where and when.
A baritone with an old big muff can sound awesome. With your in-the-face treble-heavy music, it might not be the right fuzz pedal.

It doesn't really match my amp, it just absolutely clashes with it, no matter the settings.

Made in New York City  They mostly sound the same to me even the old Ram head series that sell for high dollars. Or the newer Russian greens. Not fan of that particular Muff

I'm trying to pick up a new head sometime, so I guess I'll see how this thing interacts if I get it. (big if, you guys'll see if it happens)

Just never done for me on different amps, I have tried a few time and a friend has an early one he got back in early 70's

Remember, I'm playing through a 28 year old solid state amp, albeit, the best sounding solid state amp I've ever heard.

That type of fuzz really likes tube amps - it basically relies on the amp to do most of the break-up.
There are other fuzzes that work better with SS, though. Catalinbread, for example.

The Big Muffs from the early 70s are by far the best sounding.I have a 1970 ram's head model and even through my solid state amps it sounds deadly and gives me the really Hendrix type violin-like sustain and is great for songs like "Foxy Lady" "Manic Depression" "Are You Experienced" etc. The biggest downfall though is that most musicians have found out how fabulous really good examples sound and consequently, one like mine can go for $1,000 + these days.

I haven't heard any of the newer ones so I don't know if their sound is anything like the old ones or which or the current models comes closest to the ram's head in overall tone and performance. It would be interesting to find out and would probably be to my advantage so that I can retire the old one to save it from extra wear and tear,as I did by replacing my old Vox Clyde McCoy wah with the new V-846 HW handwired model.
