:(

It's official. Just found out tonight. Our band has split up. Three of five members have lives and want to go back to living them. Wives, not alcohol were a factor in this tragic mishap. I sometimes wonder if country bands are as susceptible to this sort of thing as rock bands. I'm trying not to get too bummed about it. I'm pretty sure I'm the only member on this board that lives in my general area but if there's any Oilers fans in north central Alberta looking for a guitarist by all means, send me a PM. I'll even play bass if needed.

Just throwing that out there into the aether.

Bands come. Bands go. Just keep playing. I'm sure you'll find a new project soon. Good luck!

I could never live on what an average gigging musician gets paid, Bill.

No, I play because I love it.
I always like to say that I'll play for free.
It's the travel time and set up and tear down that I want to be paid for.
You know ... the work part.
The playing for me is pure joy.
If the general public knew how good for the soul it is to be part of a band
and play live music I seriously doubt there'd be anyone at all who didn't
take up an instrument or learn to sing.
That's the part I'm concerned about.

Keep in touch with other groups. I don't play in band now but fill in for other members at times.

You got it! No wonder big rock stars get mixed up with drugs. It's hard to not have withdrawals after playing live in front of an energetic audience. The only time I've been to Alberta was to hike in Jasper and Banff. Best of luck to you.

Yes, this do suck... always sucks when something decent does a crash n burn.
You did mention it was 3 out of 5 that went south on the project... What's the deal w/ the other member (or other "former" band member.)? Perhaps they're willing to work w/ you to build something new. Maybe something can be salvaged.

Would think You have contacts for the places you were playing... adds incentive to get the rest of what's needed to commit if they know the band can be up & running quick with work on the burners...

ah, women and rock n' roll. my wife has ruined many opertunities for me. well...maybe not ruined but put her foot in them for sure. i love her anyway. sorry about the band my friend, other things will come your way that is for sure. keep your head up and respect the other guys decisions. the "itch" will strike again. but, you might not be there. i've been here before ,my wife married me because i play guitar and she's a rock fanatic('80s style)(just kidding) but she has THE power over me. i hope you know what i mean.

Sorry that your band broke up BMW-KTM but that's the way it goes with rock and roll. Country bands break up when the bass player takes the singer's love of his life-his sister-away from him,or runs off with his pickup truck and his dog.
