My Vox Tonelab EX has started to act up, and I can't trust it to take on stage. I need to replace it. One thing I want is the ability to turn off amp models and just use it as a stomp box. Here are my cadidates ;
Zoom G5
Digitech RP 1000
Pod HD500X
TC Electronics Nova System
Does anyone have any experience with these pedals? I'm not sure if the Zoom or Pod will let me turn off amp modeling.

The Boss GT-100 certainly lets you switch off the amp modelling. You can run it in 4-cable mode which lets you select between your existing preamp and the modelling preamps and it still allows you to use a tube preamp through the digital effects by using the FX loop.

I own the g5, and I am very happy with it.

mostly I use things like chorus, tremolo, flange- but I do use the amp sims and distortions on occasion.

you can store up to 9 different amp sims/modulation/effects in a patch, and turn them off with the footswitch. the tube boost is also a nice feature.

good luck in your search

:arrow: I have a ZOOM B3 for bass and love it. Very high quality. You'd have to go to ultra-expensive studio rackmount gear to get better.

Thanks for everyone's advice, but guess what. It looks like I've got my Tonelab working again. I had shot contact cleaner down into the switches to no avail. Just for the hey of it, I opened it up and sprayed the switches again at a better access point and wala, it's working like it's supposed to.
I'm almost disappointed, because there's things about the Tonelab that I don't like, but I'm not going to get another multipedal as long as this one works. Too much other gear that needs buying! :D

You should get the Line 6 M5 Stompbox Modeler. It is amazing, and no amp models like you mentioned! Best Stompbox I ever bought.
