Hey guys, long time no see! I've been super busy with school lately so I haven't exactly had the same amount of internet downtime that I used to. So I thought I'd drop by with a random status update!

-Last semester went great, and despite my trepidation about it initially I actually did really well. Sitting on a 4.0 GPA as of right now! :D This semester I'm doing even more music classes, including advanced jazz ensemble (which is way harder than I thought it would be) and class piano 1 (which is way easier, they're teaching things that I learned when I was 8 years old).

-The guitar shop where I used to work closed down. Bad economy + big name competition = unprofitable business. I had been going there since I first started playing guitar, and I knew a lot of the people there since I was in 6th or 7th grade. Over the last six months I've been working like crazy since most of the employees left when they heard the shop was closing. I've been unemployed since December, but I've spent the last two weeks looking for a job and now I'm working at two different places as a teacher and making more money than I used to!

-I have had very little time to do any of my own song writing, and I'm still in the same cover band. Now that I've settled into less working hours and I'm not so worried about school, I have some time to try doing some music of my own again. We just fixed up a room in my house for music related things, and I really want to try doing some youtube videos soon!

-I finally did that refret I kept talking about doing to that old Samick neck-through guitar. I took some pictures along the way, so when I get some more free time I'll be sure and post them!

-I snagged a Fender Mandolin in our going out of business sale! So far I know how to play that one Rory Gallagher song that he plays on mandolin. But I'm still messing around trying to learn to actually play it and also know what I'm doing on it rather than going 100% by ear. I've been trying to play some celtic music on guitar (harder than it sounds), so maybe I'll try some of that with the mandolin too.

-Also on a sort of unrelated note, I have made the mistake of watching Doctor Who. I say "mistake" because it's like my childhood obsession with Star Wars all over again. I'm still getting my work done for college, but that's only because I've replaced sleep for Netflix...

Anyways, that's about all I've been up to lately. Now that I have a bit more time I'll try not to drop off the face of the earth again!

Howdy right back at you Rebecca. Sounds like you're knocking it out of the park at school. Keep up the great work! Your parents must be proud.

Howdy Texas! Mind reader, good to see you're busy musically. I echo Andy, keep up the good work, rock the nations. :D 8) You learned to bounce real good, the music store change worked. Looking forward to pic's and a video would be cool if you could have time somewhere, school break?
Texas, I met a Dr. Who that was only for two seasons very distinguished gentleman with white hair the older looking one, at a convention(Dr. Who?)/Hyatt in Rosemont Illinois giving him and his niece a ride to the Ambassador West in Chicago whilst driving a taxi in 1983 lol. A cool Dr. Who, good tipper, I'll look for his photo :D

Patrick George Troughton , photobucket not working for me but he was the second Dr. Who.

Howdy.

Dr. Who started back in '63, that's 1963, I used to watch it back then, you've got a lot of catching up to do!

Maybe you could do a bluesy cover of the theme song?

Hi TGS!

Nice to see you around, and thanks for the update. Sounds like it's all happening. I can't fault anything you're doing: keep it up and things are going to turn out just great. :)

I'm sure I haven't seen every episode from then till now. But probably most of them. Maybe if I'd spent some of that time working harder at the music... ah, who knows?

Cheers - C

Yep, caught my first Dr. Who on BBC1 in '63 waiting for Jukebox Jury to come on... the Panel that night was the Fab Four !

cheers!

HOWDY, BECKS!!

I wondered how you had been doing, but I knew that you'd be successful no matter what...and I was right! 4.0 GPA!! Keep rockin' it!

So glad you've found another job--that's a difficult thing to do in this day and age.

Post some more videos soon--your original music, a cover, anything--we all love to hear your music, no matter what it is!
