I'm Steve and I wanted to say hi.

I'm a union electrician, artist and family man, among other things. My dad is an ol' bass man from way back and owns a pristine 1961 Jazz Bass. In addition, my wife is a professional singer and musician, so I've been around live music and performance for most of my life. I finally decided to get more involved in making music early last year. I've been playing with my wife and friends on weekends and really enjoy it. I started off with a "Modern Player" Jazz Bass. I recently became owner of a 1973 P bass, but I want to start another thread on that topic soon. I'm looking forward to getting more educated in playing as well as learning about the instruments themselves. I figured this might be a good place to start.

Welcome aboard - is your '73 P Bass natural finish? I have a '75 J Bass that is. Nice instruments!

Thank you all. I started another thread in the P bass section, BTW.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.
