@John C

I've doubts concerning the two VNs in the neck & middle.

Since the Pearly Gates is described as a "super hot, high-sustain humbucking bridge pickup", I guess Fender used the hotter dual-coil ceramic types for getting a proper balance with the humbucker.

I disagree with the description of the Pearly Gates as being super hot. It's hotter than your typical PAF, but not as brutal as a JB or even a Custom5 (or Custom Custom). You could fiddle around with the pickup's height to get a better balance with the VN's.

The future would be if fender could develop a active type humbucker and single coil pickups that are modeling pickups, these pickups would run off two 9v batteries and have a concentric dual volume and or tone pot to select the different pickup models,i think 12 models would be good a start.

What do you guy's and gal's think about this idea?

Kinda sorta of a Fender Variax guitar…

Well, why not? James Tyler paved the way by introducing a series of modeling guitars a couple of years ago.

Personally I don't think Fender would make a Strat incorporating those Variax technologies. They offered Stratocasters with Roland-Ready abilities throughout the years; currently we have four of such guitars into production: MIM Standard Roland Ready, GC1, G5 and G5A, with the latter being a limited-edition model made in the USA.

chromeface,i am not talking about the Variax guitar or the roland ready guitars that require there special G5 and G5a pickups and or a interface box . I already mentioned my idea in my previous post, maybe you should read it again? I really do not think you get what i was saying? The modeling could be done with active pickups that are designed by fender or even EMG pickups may be used if they worked with fender or any other company who wishes to develop this technology.

No special cables or interface box would be needed, all the processing would be done on a small circuit board that would be mounted to the volume or tone pots inside your guitar, the battery would supply power to the circuit board for the pickup modeling and you would just plug any 1/4" guitar cable into your guitar and then into your amp.

So long as I can program my own cards I'll happy. If this is open to tinkering then it could be a fantastic revolution. If it's another proprietary piece of electronic hoo-hah that locks players into spending tons on tiny cards, then it's going nowhere.

Think il just alter the tone by selecting a different pickup, or changing the tone controls on the guitar and amp.

This is a complete gimmick, in the same class as the robot LP from Gibson.

Fender make great guitars when sticking close to the 60 year old design, but any deviation from that is usually just a gimmick, nothing that will add to the design and stand the test of time.

Rather the opposite, I'd say. It's very zeitgeiist, and sacrifices the future on the altar of now.

How many of these guitars with proprietary short-life batteries and Chinese electronics will be seen on stage 20 years down the road?
And how many of the standard strats?
Now tell me which one is futuristic and which one attempts to cash in on catching the moment.

Hi Guys,

In answer to the compatibility question posted from chromeface, the accompanying software is compatible with both Mac and Windows.

Best Regards,

Does it have a Robo-Tuner?

My observation is that the guitarists of today are unable to tune without a tuner. Whether that tuner turns the pegs or not is less important - they never achieved the ability to hear what's right and what's wrong, and rely on something external making that decision.

I have a few tuners. I rarely ever use them, and certainly won't rely on them. Much of the time, I tune my guitars to the least easily tunable instrument around - usually that would be a piano, but can also be a tin flute or harmonica. Yet I see the future in Tronical, because of the convenience. It won't kill the tuning skills, because that skill is mostly lost already. If it's out of tune, why, Antares will fix that, rite?
*sigh*

Yes we all tuned by ear in "The Day" I came about in the 70s but I couldnt set intonation.
I also had to force my audience to listen to me tuning at high db.
No I can rapidly check my tuning between songs and I can do so while chatting with the audience. Robo-Tuners are a monstrosity and most Gibson Les Pauls have them this year.
I know we sound like Dana Carvey grumpy old man a lttle here.

Picked up a LPM when I bought my Mystic Sunburst. Robo tuners are awesome if you have to play between multiple tunings fast.

As for tuning by ear, errrr guilty here of always using a tuner. Can use a piano and pitch pipes but its a hassle.
