Reference PRSs, I was talking about the regular ones, too, not the SEs. If I had one of those multi-thousand things, I wouldn't play it. I'd just hang it on a wall and look at it every now and then, like a painting. For playing, Fender gives me what I want and need at a reasonable price because ever since Leo, Fender has listened to musicians.

i understand what you are saying, but my point is it is a guitar it is meant to be played. My dad has a old martin d41, which is worht a chunk as welll asa 68 gibson humming bird, and they get played. I dont think Paulk Reed Smith, Leo Fender, or Orville Gibson meant for there insturments to hang on the wall, rather to be played

If you want an SG, why bother with an Epi?

The Gibson faded red and brown SGs are truly excellent instruments. In April, 'snagged one for $700 in a hardshell, out the door.

I picked up the Gibson Vintage Mahogony Les Paul last year because I wanted the LP sound without the high price (or weight). It has the same p/u's as the high priced Pauls, but there is no binding, expensive inlays or glossy finish. I'd have to pay 3 times more to get that which isn't worth it to me.

Also, I have an Epi Dot Deluxe. If I wanted the ES-335, I would have to pay 7 times more for a guitar that's not 7 times as good . . . or even twice as good. A while back, Guitar Player ran reviews on some low-priced guitars from China and they were astounded at the quality of the products coming out of there.

Still, Fender rules.

Because the corners that Gibson cut, I believe, are noticable. The playability ie there, but the workmanship is definitly lacking. If you spend that much on an Epi SG. You'll get a top of the line model.
$700=Faded Gibson SG With generic Alnico pick ups
$549=Epiphone SG Prophesy GX wirh Gibson Dirty Finfer PUs or the EX with EMG 81/85 pick ups.

I'll take the higher quality guitar for less money, but I'm a little crazy/

I forgot to mention, the Epi SG Prophocey's come with EBONY FRETBOARD! That's unheard of for the price.

I agree, FirstMeasure. I've been itching for one of those Epiphone Prophecy SG's w/ the Dirty Fingers! It's a lot of guitar for the money.

And the finish is just amazing, if you like Figured Quilt Maple tops in Black Cherry. I just found out about the ebony fretboard. I wasn't planning on an SG, but I may have just changed my plans

Have or do you own one? Mine are all excellent.

Besides all that making negative statements concerning the pride and joy of others is not PC; ESPECIALLY here. I guess you did not see the post from yesterday some one made stating he hated Hendrix Stratocasters; ask around and find out what happened.
Definatly NOT a way to make new friends and influance people.
