I can't agree that he had no recognition til later in life. He had hit records in the 50s and 60s, played TV shows and top tours, released a long string of albums, and played high profile gigs all his life, not to mention writing the hit song "Love Is Strange." Later in life he did festival shows, had his music played on TV and in movies....

Pretty good for a guy who only knew one rhythm lick. I'd say he did alright, and nobody - least of all Fender - owes him a thing.

Beat me to it. I've seen one in a local guitar store on display.

I've seen them on the site before. But I don't think they're very common.
But who knows what they'll do now. Unfortunately there are those that will charge more for them now that he's gone.

Gretsch also makes the Jupiter Thunderbird... not a "tribute" model, but designed (and played) by Bo.

I agree.
IMHO Signiture type or Tribute type guitars should be for those that have SIGNIFICANTLY contributed some thing (s) to the guitar.
For example: Chet Adkins, Les Paul, Eric Clapton, BB King, Elmore James, Fredie King, Jimmi Hendrix, Jimmy Page; Eric Johnson,T Bone Walker Peter Framton, etc.

These guys HAVE made great contributions to the guitar
What Bo did was important; but that's all.

Bo did as much as some of those names--and more than others--he is a lot more important to guitar history than Frampton & Eric Johnson, by far.
