Gulp...

Yes, but on the positive side, one can do a lot of awesome fingerpicking with nails like those.

A danger of hitting wolf notes at this time of the month, though...

Howdy!

Been a while since i last checked in on the forum. Good to see some familiar names still posting! :D

Hi Stokley,

Before you see your Tech, I reckon you'll want to take a peek at this...

Add the red wire next to the smiley face to your current S-1 wiring and that should give you the split HB (with the S-1 in the OFF position), and without any additional switches. Just so you know, another forum user has reported that this mod works!

Check this thread for more details http://forums.fender.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=67062

Best of luck & Enjoy!

Andy

Hi Andy et. al.

I'm resurrecting this thread because the diagram you provided might be very close to what I am looking for, but I am having a tough time finding the exact wiring I need.

I first modded my '97 American Lone Star Strat to be an Elite Strat HSS using gen4 noiseless in neck and middle, and a P-Rails as the humbucker. I got that working fine, but the push-push (not the S-1, but the small one) only bypassed everything and sent the humbucker straight to the output jack.

So my next attempt was what I have now: an HSS Deluxe strat (same pickups, no small push-push). I had that working fine, then wired up your diagram above, and have that working--still not quite where I'm going...

I prefer the Elite setup, but I'd like to change the push-push button to a 3-way toggle that gives me humbucker splitting options:
1) Single coil slug
2) Full humbucker (possibly option for series or parallel via S-1, or even another push-push, but that's not a big deal)
3) Single coil rail

I'm attaching the Elite diagram I used, and will return to (note the unique 5 way super switch 'discrete' that has a different rear wafer with only 8 posts instead of 12)...I am hoping somebody can help me with a diagram of how to change that push-push to a 3 way (on-on-on? on-off-on?) dpdt switch that does the above 3 things (I do have an on-off-on with 9 posts if that would help me--I just have no clue how I'd use it). Here's the Elite diagram--the humbucker wires in this are wrong since I'm using a Seymour Duncan humbucker:

Thanks for you patience and any help you can provide; I'm enjoying learning about all of this -- that S-1 with the 5 way super switch is tough to follow! I wish there was an interactive tool that showed where electricity flowed in various setups. Hmmm...

Jon
