As soon as this drops back to page 2 or beyond, someone
will ask, "how do I record my guitar playing?"

Mike, thanks so much for this information. This is an area I've been interested in for a long time but had no idea where to start. Having a tough time with depression and anxiety too so it'll be nice to have something to work at for a little while.

For free it has to be worth a go!

It is a great course. Very comprehensive. But it is a huge time commitment if you want to stay current with it. I started it last time they offered it and I could not keep up with it. And I'm retired!! :? Of course, if you don't it's not like it goes on your permanent record.

Berklee offers some great courses. I am watching for when they re-offer the one about the history of R&R.

Yes definitely, that could be interesting to get another perspective on the information!

Sounds good , I'm looking forward to this! It mentions that we will need to upload MP3 files for peer review. That should be fun.

The only item in the background list that I'm not familiar with is adding a synth to a MIDI track. I was playing around with that last night since I don't usually use MIDI. I don't have a MIDI keyboard but I got my PC keyboard working and had some fun with beats and synths in Ableton Live. Pretty cool stuff!

What DAW are you using Snowjoe?

Quote:
Recommended Background

You should be able to perform the following tasks in a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW), such as GarageBand, Pro Tools, Logic, Live, Reason, SONAR, or Digital Performer:
•Create audio tracks
•Add audio effects (EQ, Noise Gate, Compressor, Delay, and Reverb)
•Create MIDI tracks
•Add a software synthesizer to a MIDI track
•Export an audio file
•Create an MP3 file

I have Logic to use, I have a little bit of previous using MIDI but not much.

To be honest I'm mostly looking forward to getting a bit more understanding of what effects do the what they do to your sounds. It's so easy to sit in front of the computer looking at all these options open to you and not have a clue what to do with them!

Same here re the effects. I just meant I knew how to add them to the track, not how to use them properly.

So much to learn, I have a feeling I won't be playing much guitar during the course but I hope it's worth it for future recordings

Favorite added.

I've got reaper, line 6 and auraplug plugins, should be good enough to get started. I've had my eye out for a casio xw synth as well.

And its -20 C here, what else do I have to do?
