I just got a couple of pedals over the holidays. One is the Fulltone MDV3 Deja Vibe. It a clone of the old Uni-Vibe pedal that Hendrix, Trower and tons of other guys used in the 60's. I got to borrow a Uni-Vibe when I was a kid and always wanted one. It's a great pedal plenty of throb and has vibrato as well as a vintage/modern switch. It's awesome and built like a tank.
The other is a clone of my old Mutron Octave Divider that I had up until about five years ago or so. I sold it and an old Mutron III. Same guy bought them both and paid a grand for the pair. $600 for the Octave Divider and $400 for the Mutron III. I always regretted selling the Octave Divider so now I built one from Build Your Own Clone. It sounds seriously close to my old one glitches and all. They used 1/8 watt resistors. I measures each one. Those things are tiny to say the least and almost impossible to read. Any, it worked first shot! I didn't get a chance to paint the case, but I usually don't and rarely mark the one's I buils. I know what they are and what they do. It gives me something to photograph during the holidays while I'm off.

Really nice! Sturdy is a big plus - I don't know why some companies make cheap stomp boxes that won't survive a stomp. A good casing and a strong switch should be the norm, not an exception!

How's that octaver in use? Good tracking also for sub-octave?
My Catalinbread Perseus, like most of them, really wants a single coil neck pickup with the tone rolled back, and doesn't do polyphony, unless perfect fifths. So it's kind of limited...
I was thinking about getting a Polyanna, which have some good reviews. But...

This is old school 70's technology. It tracks pretty well depending on where you are on the neck. It doesn't really like open strings or chords. It's something you need to sit down with. It's better with the neck pickup too. It gives you an octave below what you're playing and can do bass only. It also has an old Dan Armstrong Green Ringer built into it to give you the note you're playing, and octave down and an octave up all at the same time. Like I said, it takes time to learn what this thing can do and when you do, it's pretty cool. It was one of the hardest pedals I've built so far.

The Fulltone is just amazing period. It uses photocells and incandescent light under a dog house for the effect, no op amps or digital modeling. It's as close as you can get to the real thing.

+1

I'm thinking about getting one of those Fulltone Roto-clones myself.

Tim, that MDV3 is the fullest, warmest vibe I've ever heard. Hendrix, Trower, Gilmour, their all in there. The build quality is meticulous too. Not a sloppy connection anywhere in the pedal. The through-holes look gold plated. It's probably the most true to original Uni-Vibe clone on the market. The tremolo can actually bend and detune the notes when you crank the intensity and the chorus can throb stuff off the walls. It was worth every penny.

Nice work (including the photos)! I have an old Mutron III that
I haven't used in years. I had no idea of the current numbers.

Hey Mike, as long as it's not the HAZ Mutron III+it's worth over $400 on EBay. I needed some money way back and sold the Octave Divider and the Mutron III. The same guy wanted them both. Mine had the power supply. I don't miss the Mutron III because I still have a Mutron Micro V.

I have a vintage Mutron III and I've never checked out the HAZ labs version. Maybe I'll play around with it again.

Supro, congrats on the new pedals--I'd love to hear each of them...sound sample?

I also want to say thank you for putting some great photos of your gear here...I know you're a photographer, but dang it, every time you post a pic I wish I could get some good shits of my gear...my best efforts are poor at best.

My brother is the one with the recording expertise. I haven't recorded anything myself since the reel to reel days. I have an iMac and Garage Band and all that stuff but never learned how to use it. Thanks for the kind words on the photos. I was working on another project so I just tossed them down. That pedal vibe is truly awesome.
