I'm at the end of my duo sonic build project.

I have shielded the cavity extensively with copper and made sure it connects with the shielding and components on the scratch plate. There is a grounding wire going through a worm hole where it rests underneath the metal bridge.
The neck pick up is reverse wound.
So it should be nice and quiet, right?

The thing is, its very noisy. More than what i would consider 'acceptable guitar noise'. Its actually noisier than my other duo sonic which has no shielding inside at all.

but interestingly, when i select the middle position (both pick ups on) its lovely and quiet.

Can anyone help me with this? any suggestions at all would be appreciated.

thank you

Without seeing the guitar it is not easy . Send some picture under the pickgard.

What are the pickups ?
Are the ground are OK , no missing one ?

Sure something wrong in your wiring or piclups you do not see or do not know :(

An aluminum shield beneath the pickguard (such as those used on vintage Strats) may help tame the hum.

Your guitar is quiet when both pickups are switched on due to one of them being reverse-wound. Together, they're behaving like a humbucker.

Have you copper tape shielded the pickup cavities? I'm not seeing where you say you did that as you just said "cavity" which I'm taking to mean control cavity. If not, then it needs to happen and go to ground. Check that it is all grounded with an Ohmmeter with one point being the bridge.

Depending on what pickups you have they could be hotter than the pickups in the other Duo Sonic.

You also could have made a wiring error.
