Along with a best friend, in my early years, the Everly Brothers where the primary influence who's music motivated me to learn the guitar to be able to perform their songs at the beginning of my musical endeavors...to this day, I think they remained the best male duet.

It's tragic.

A buddy and I were just discussing the Everly's last night.

RIP, Phil.

Prior to being signed, the Beatles were turned down at least once for sounding too much like the Everly Bros.

Goes to show how music can influence you: to this day, when I run into a pair of unfamiliar guys--even if I'm told their names--I always refer to them as "Phil and Don". And I heard somewhere that the Everlys were the "Phil and Don" mentioned in the song Let 'Em In by Paul McCartney and Wings; maybe Brother Dave would know for sure.

My favorite Everly Brothers song has always been Walk Right Back.

R.I.P., Phil Everly

I am in no way criticizing the music or musicians of today by this statement, but as time and people pass by, we learn now to appreciate the talents of yesterday, with the limited resources they had to work with in the studio.

Upnorth, its ok by me if you critisize the performers of today. The question is, where to start.

I'm so sorry about this loss. Cryin' in the rain.
RIP, Phil.

R.I.P. Phil !!

Thanks for the Music !!

One person who will be very saddened by Phil's passing will be Albert Lee, a much under-appreciated guitarist who organized the Everly Bros. reunion in the 80s.

Albert played w/ Phil and Don for more than 20 years and appeared on many of their recording.

cheers!

After we moved from my hometown when I was just 3,we had to stay in a rental place in the new town while our permanent residence was made ready. This rental was in a seedy part of town right next to a snack-bar/teen hangout and I can still remember hearing "All I Have to Do Is Dream" blaring from the juke box many times a day. That was the only fond memories that I have from that dilapidated old wreck of a house but it sparked a life-long love and appreciation of Don and Phil's wonderful songs and unique and flawless harmonies.God Bless You Phil Everly.
