My Fender fam... this story just gets cooler and cooler and...

(Just to preface this thread: In August/September of last year, I won John Mayer's Continuum Strat from John's Summer Tour Giveaway partnered with Fender.)

I was quite surprised when I got a FedEx package Friday... I never get those unexpected. It was from NYC. When I first read that, I thought it was something from MTV for the mtvU campus invasion festival my band, Inflowential, played and that I made a thread about recently ( that some of you may have read(and voted THANKS!!)). Then I read who it was from. It was a name, or management firm I should say, that I've received some rather extraordinary FedEx packages from in the past.

Look at what it was...

"To Kyle
Be Well

scribble scribble '08"

This is the set list from John's show here in Raleigh last year when I saw him play the Continuum Strat that I won a month later.

John...

Fender...

Brad...

FedEx man...

Somebody answer for this...

My gut feeling tells me that Mr. Brad Traweek had something to do with this because he's the only one I told from Fender that I saw John play the guitar at the show here in Raleigh. He may have called in a favor (if so, thank you sir!). I haven't had the pleasure of speaking with anyone from John's camp throughout all the communication. I thought it could have gotten lost in some intern's desk for the past year BUT John signed it " '08 "!

The only other possibility...

When I first posted about winning the Continuum Strat last year I talked about seeing him in Raleigh. If this were the reason, it would mean John reads these forums... and if so... John is probably posing as one of us ordinary lames and we dont even know it!!!

From whatever extraordinary galactic circumstances allowed me to receive an autograph from John on a set list from almost a year ago, I'm EXTREMELY grateful for it. This was sooo cool getting this! Christmas in June... Thanks Mr. FedEx man.

I just bought tickets this morning for the John's show in August here in Raleigh again and I can't wait!!! Now I have to figure out how to pay my rent but who cares about that.

Section 1 Row O Seat 25, 26... come find me if you're going to be there.

Thanks again for the autograph John/Brad/Fender/intern/FedEx man!

Wow that is amazing? Have you always had luck like this? I along with the rest wish it was me that won but as I have said in the past. I am just happy that a fellow JM fan won the guitar and is getting to great things with it. Keep it up. Congrats again.

That's awesome. And most definitely his signature. Congrats.

He could have found out through a variety of ways. Fender could have had something to do with it, not to mention I'm sure he gets on and off these boards. Not necessarily posting, but creeping around.

Kyle -- very cool, and thanks for sharing! After learning what a big fan you were, this set list was a special little surprise for you that we had requested back when initially fulfilling the prize. John's camp, being the consummate pros that they are, delivered -- it just took 'em a little time to do so due to the rigors of touring and whatnot.

Anyway, we really enjoy giving stuff away to appreciative winners and you've definitely taken the cake. Hope the guitar is continuing to treat you well!

AWESOME!!!

Thanks Brad, the setlist was an awesome suprise!

If you speak with anyone from John's Camp soon, please express my gratitude over everything they've given me and thank everybody envolved around the Fender offices.

The guitar has been incredible. I love it! I'm trying hard not to play it too much so as to keep it looking good but its soooo hard to resist... haha. I posted about this in another thread but I took the guitar to the mtvU Campus Invasion Festival and Wyclef asked me about it after the show when we were in our dressing rooms and I took it out and showed it to him and told him all about winning it. He really liked it. It was a very cool experience.
