I chose not to gig this year, but I'd like to hear from
those here that did. How was the crowd, the venue,
the songs, the sound, etc.

I'm sure that many of you here are still just
waking up from your gigs. What gear did you use
and how long did you play?

Pics would be great too...show & tell, please. :)

I think someone out there from over half a million members must
have had a gig last night.. :?:

I don't think people do gigs any more. I think everyone stays home and polishes their guitar.

Nothing here spent the night with family. We don't start the gigs for the new year until the 11th.

You may not be entirely wrong.

I know of several local friends that gigged, in fact one band
did the gig that I offered to them so I could stay home and
gig on my couch with my vintage remote. :D

Seriously though, I'm thinking the Vegas area ska/reggae/rock
guy (Jah Soldier) probably gigged as well as a few others from here. Just haven't seen this yet maybe?

We played a NYE gig. A small, local club downtown. Our town has a population of less than 3,000, so we felt good with a crowd of 175-200 which did fill the club to standing room only. Everyone seemed to have a pretty good time and most stayed til the end, 1:30 am.

Our sound out front was pretty good, but we had a low overtone on stage that was about to drive us crazy. It didn't show up until the middle of the second set. We never did locate the source. At first we thought it was my bass. I turned my speakers off (walked out front to hear my bass) for a few songs and it was still there. We turned a few more knobs here and there but nothing really helped.

Overall it was a good gig. Everyone had fun and made it home safe.

We didn't get very many pictures, but here's a few.

grho50 - thanks for sharing that. Great pics too and a very good
audience. It sounds like your band has it together. Did you ever get around to recording anything (as per thread topic a few months ago)?

The low overtone might have been a mic picking up bass drum? It sounds like it wasn't a big issue though. Glad that you posted and even moreso that a good time was had by all. Happy New Year!

Some nice gear too! 8)

Thanks Miami Mike.
We thought about the feedback through a mic, but wasn't able to locate which one....if that was the problem. I did turn my speakers a few different angles, but it had no effect. It did get bad enough on a couple of songs that it made the bass or one of the guitars sound out of tune....threw our vocals off. It was kind of funny.....we were looking at each other and yelling out "G".....it's in "G"!
I've got a few live recordings, but nothing recorded with any professional gear. Just camera stuff. It's good enough that I can listen and tell what corrections I may need to make or places where the band might tighten things up a little.
We didn't play any gigs from the last weekend in Oct 'til the 3rd weekend in Dec. This was mainly due to one of our guitar players having an operation on his right elbow. Also a couple of cancelations at the first of Dec due to ice storms. I was hoping we would record some during that down time, but his elbow just wasn't in good enough shape. The rest of us could have recorded and he could have come in later to do his parts, but I can't seem to talk the other guys into to doing it. They say if we record anything they want to do it live, even if it's at practice. They just don't want to take the time and energy to do a decent recording.
We'll have some more down time the next couple of months due to one of our members day job. We have a couple of gigs, but we'll also be taking the time to work in some new PA gear at our practice location. I'll bring it up again. I'll keep at 'em until they cave in.

Thanks again for posting. I had a feeling that with
all of the musicians on here that at least one would
have a gig to talk about. Great pics too!

I'm sure there are more. Maybe they'll get around to posting even if they don't have any pictures.
There is no gig too big or too small. From an arena stage to a friends garage party.....it doesn't matter.....you're performing with your friends and others are benefiting from it.

Newbie here:

I ended up being coverted over NYE back to Fender products. I had 2 Mexican Fenders, and a 1960 Gibson Doublecut Special.

The Fenders took it.

First, welcome aboard.

So, did you gig with them for NYE?
