I am thinking the Bantam Bass Amp would be a bit better than the small box Bassman (to fit SA's requirements).

Just replace the crappy Yamaha Speaker, with a nice 15 incher, and you got a nice 30 watt Bassman. Loud enough to gig with too! And this guitarist sure likes the two he has!

He wants to play a bass through it, Tony. That requires a sealed-back.

 Well that must be why I never got asked to play bass again after that one time...

And I did think that if Fender was going to make a newer version, they would know...

The Bassman TV series was mentioned. Wow was that a short lived run! It really had a Pawn Shop vibe to it I think, especially the small 1x10 one. Really nice but really pricey.

Look for a used Fender Bassman TV Ten maybe. Scarce but would fill the bill.

At the same time, it would be great to have a bass amp that didn't sound so boxed-in.

It may sound boxed-in because it may be under powered, and not pushing the air for a bass sound.

I've actually thought of the idea of a Pawn Shop Bass, too. Something with a 15" speaker for that old school vibe, perhaps.

I thought those Bassman TV amps were cool, but they were too damned expensive for me. The 350 watt combo with the 15" was around $1000 or so, from what I recall. I suppose if I had the cash I might have considered it.

Bassman TV fronts were some great amps.

Agreed, $1,000. I thought was a bit high for the TV 15 also. $750. - $800. maybe. One thing I didn't like about the TV 15, I tried several, and could never get the appreciable volume from them for being a 350 watt amp. SS, or tube.

Therein lies the rub--I want the opposite of pricey!
That amp fits the bill almost perfectly, though...funky, small, a little underpowered but works for what it is...

Like to find a original (48-52) TV Front for 1G the few I seen are 2g's up.

Fortunately, that doesn't seem to be the case with the Rumble 350 combo. With the price the Bassman TV cost, you could have bought two Rumbles.

You've got it. The Rumble 350 Combo makes a lot sense. All around. 8)

i have a large tube bass amp that's an old garnet Stencil amp--it's quite loud and I do like it, but it's awkward to move around.
i also have a small Traynor solid state amp that I like, and it's easy to move around.

But I would like something in between the two, and that hard to find.

I think the idea off a Pawn Shop Bass amp would be worth checking out to fill that gap--and I could also use that amp and my Traynor together as well.
