Dunlop Tortex in .73mm
Dunlop Max Grip Nylon also in .73mm for acoustic

...and a tired old Fender Medium Celluloid pick that I carry in my pocket. It's always in my pocket no matter where I go and mixes with the spare change I carry too. 8)

I still have a bunch of these in medium and heavy, but
sometimes use v-picks (thanks Chet!).

Anyone ever try picks made from wood, bone, or anything like that?

I have a felt bass pick I haven't found much use for. Especially since I play about 95% of the time with my fingers.

Yeah, I have a wood pick. I like it in that it doesn't add a "click" sound like plastic and shell picks, but it's thicker and not too durable.
And a silver pick, which beats steel picks in that it's not magnetic, and near ideal for harmonics.

Dunlop Tortex - 0.50mm and 0.60mm depending on how aggressive I feel.

I buy them both in bulk. Bags of 25 each. Over the years I have been slowly gravitating toward thinner picks. Was a time I wouldn't use anything under 1mm thick. Then it was 0.88s. Now 0.60s and thinner. I find I'm able to have more control over pick attack with a thinner pick.

This was my first post on this forum. I'm relieved to see I'm not the only one interested in talking about something as mundane as picks.
You all sound as guitar crazy as I am. Very cool.

I collected them for years. I have hundreds.

Ironically, I don't use them anymore, just the fingers.
I treasure the collection though. These 1930s celluloid mosaics (Clown Vomit) are my faves.

Fender Extra Heavy or Tortex Extra heavy (purple) picks. Ocassionaly use a brass pick (drummer I know made me a few from an old cracked ride cymbal)... a stone pick (agate) or a quarter.

I used to use heavy picks years ago. recently I am using light to medium because they are less hurtful to these aging hands.

I am also dealing with the pick noise issue. don't know when I started to notice it, but it seems to annoy me more now.

is there such thing as a "quiet" pick?

Wood picks have very little pick noise.
And, of course, good calluses.

I recently fell in love with the Dunlop Tortex .60mm, really easy to play with.

I see Fender does a steel pick in various gauges:
