Unbelievably nice guitars. Mine isn't as purdy, but sounds great. I got it used, without trying it, with the intention of fixing it up. After playing it the first time I realized I don't need to change a thing.

+1 on getting yourself a good quality acoustic guitar.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I looked at a Takamine the other day, and it cried just that. Unfortunately for it, the next line it uttered was "Country road", which is why it is still on the wall.

Hey, a lot of them scream at me, but when I hold some of them, they reveal they're lying.
Then there's the matter of what I can afford as well.

I have more GAS when I have money to spend of guitars than when I don't.

Probably best to just appreciate what one already has.

We are already fortunate in a lot of other ways.

I can't help but associate acoustic guitars with some of the regular Joe players you see nowadays on youtube.

Take any acoustic, no matter what the quality..and I'll find a Strat or Tele that sounds much better. Why spend so much cash on something so breakable, anyway?

Definitely - summed up perfectly Toronado. :)

Yes, because there have never been acoustic songs or genres in the history of mankind.

If you can't make an acoustic sound good, you need to practice.

Or if you'd like to treat yourself, perhaps an upgraded set of pots, caps and pickups (bridge?) for your current strat? The CV is a tight guitar and those areas are primarily where Fender made their cutbacks.

I've been giving this serious consideration actually, I think I'm going to try and play a few strats tomorrow and see how they feel, if there isn't a lot of difference in the neck then an electronics upgrade could be a good plan indeed.

In reality I could afford both a new electric and acoustic, but I know I shouldn't really spend all that money

Instead of upgrading the MIM arctic white Strat, why not just buy an American Standard or American Special Stratocaster instead? Sounds like you've got enough cash to do so.

Believe it, or not - some folks people actually like the guitars they have - and if upgrading a bit of hardware is all it takes to keep that bit of kit, then why spend a wad on a new guitar?

Yeah, why go ahead and buy American, when for about the same amount of money you could just get MIM and change out the parts for U.S. stuff. Is that good advice for the op?

Turns out, he went acoustic anyhow.

You live in the USA - I live in the UK, therefore I pay high import taxes on Fender guitars, especially American - so they are not the same price as MIM here! If Joe bought acoustic anyway, your argument is just as irrelevant as mine troll boy!!

He already has the MIC, and that kind of snooty post is totally uncalled for.
