I've got a couple of older Accutronics 17" tanks. The imp. is wrong for the amp I want to use one in but, I have a short tank with the right transducers (150 - 2250). Can I just swap these out? I know tanks are cheap but I have everything here if this will work.

Thanks and Merry Christmas.

It is doable, however they are delicate at the spring connection point, and are riveted in.

Very much depends on the impedance of the tank and the output impedance of the circuit that's driving it. Solid state reverb drivers are less sensitive to variations in impedance, tube drivers will need closer matching. The Accutronics tanks vary from a few kiloohms to (I think) 8 ohms, obviously there's the chance for a mismatch there. While it may not immediately damage your amp it may not sound right and it may draw more current than can be provided. That will most likely burn something out in time, I'd always try to replace like with like.

Where did the short tank with trancducers 150 input / 2250 output ? That sounds like transducers used in 17" Ampeg tank anyway.

Did you even bother to read the OP? Clearly he wants to swap the transducers so that the impedance will match the amp.

I think tugging on them and stretching them out might help.

Hmm. Maybe not.

Wow. Thanks for setting me straight there, I hope I never get anything wrong ever again.

Then you can be picked on for being a goody-goody.

Guess I didn't clarify. I wanted to take the 150 - 2250 out of the short tank and re-install them in a long tank. I already did it, what a pain. The spring ends had silicone or something on the loop from the factory. Burned it off with my soldering station and got them changed without breaking the leads - amazing. Like tying a fisherman's knot in the dark with mosquitoes. It works but I didn't have much time to give it a good run. Where's a good place to buy those transducers? These here are plastic, they look cheap. I know there's better.

Thanks again.
