Hi , Been listening and playing to the old alice cooper band the last few days ( i'm on holiday ) and it got me thinking of how much of an underrated and influencial band they were , tight as buggery and riff heavey without being overdriven to the max , oh and they played sg's(in recognition of the other sg thread) any other lovers of the original alice cooper band ? here's one of my faves

I am a huge AC fan myself. Especially, the original band from the 70s with Dennis Dunaway on bass. Alice still rocks to this day. Hope I get a chance to see him someday.

The Coop is AWESOME. Agree... the original lineup are underrated Rock Legends!
Like his stuff beyond that band as well... "Flush the Fashion"... "Special Forces"... the man is an Icon in my book.

The Alice Cooper Band, one of those bands good in both the studio, and live on stage.

saw them twice in the early 70's. great music, and a show to match.

I prefer the early line-up

Been a Fan since the early 70's. !!

For several years, Alice did a Thanksgiving wknd. show here at the Minneapolis Auditorium called the 'Turkey Trot'.

My buddies & I went every year. The one year we couldn't get tix, we went anyway and some kind individual lowered the Fire Hose from the 2nd Fl. Men's Room and my buddies & I scaled the wall Batman & Robin style (the TV series, not the movies) to gain access and see the show. How we didn't get crippled or busted by Mpls. PD I'll never know.

Just a little bit of local Rock History I guess...

But, Mrs. LMN runs the Accenture Match Play Golf Tourney every year in Tucson and she's met Alice (an avid Golfer) numerous times.

He's either just hanging out at the Course, or playing in the Pro-Am.

cheers!

Alice Cooper, I have liked them since Love It to Death was released in 1971, I could relate as I was 18 at that time, and like this song I had to go, and 3600 miles later I am still here.

Here is an exert from I'm 18;

"Lines form on my face and hands
Lines form from the ups and downs
I´m in the middle, without any plans
I´m a boy and I´m a man.

I´m eighteen
And I don´t know what I want
Eighteen
I just don´t know what I want
Eighteen
I gotta get away
Eighteen
I gotta get out of this place
I´ll go runnin´ in outer space
Oh yeah."

In my opinion you can not get that SG sound on a Strat nor can you get that Strat sound on an SG, that's why I have both

He also does (or did) a live radio show on weekends at one of the local Phoenix FM stations. As well, he did a series of television PSA's on behalf of ADOT, touting the benefits of renewing car registration via mail and Arizona's 10-year driver's license.

Agreed Alice Cooper was a great band. Dennis on bass was a treat for us bass players. He made number 1 spot for bass player in the yearly playboy music poll in the early seventies. Making that poll was not insignificant as Playboy's weight in the culture of that time was considerable. Some of the best interviews even done were Playboy interviews. John Lennon and Mel Brooks were amazing interviews.

Always loved him myself too. Was watching the movie Dark Shadows with Johnny Depp the other day and his character, Barnabas, had the Alice Cooper band play a ball at his manor. Of course, Depp's character thinks that since his name is Alice, he must be a woman, and he sees him and goes, "That's the most hideous woman I've ever seen."

Reminded me of the time round about 1983 that I saw Alice walking through the mall at Scottsdale Fashion Square. I was about 16 at the time and I look up and see two girls holding hands walking through the mall, which I must say shocked and excited me a little (you didn't see that kind of stuff too much in Scottsdale, Arizona back then, and I was 16!).

Then I looked a little closer and I thought, "Jeez, that one chick is UGLY.'

Then I looked again and thought, "Hey, that one chick is Alice Cooper!"

I remember my older brother having some of his stuff like "School's Out" on vinyl. The strangest thing that I remember as a kid growing up in the 70's (born in 1971) was seeing him on the "Muppet Show." I can't remember when that was, without doing a search. Was it '78 or '79? Somewhere around there. I thought it was cool, though. Corrupting young minds. :P You crazy kids and your Rock N' Roll!!! My Dad would call it "narcotic music."

I remember that one too. Found it! Turns out the Ghost of Animal is a pretty dynamic drummer...
