Sittin' here listening to The Lads.... Anyone else associate Rubber Soul with Chistmas? I certainly do. Especially the American issue. It didnt include Nowhere Man and Drive My Car. But it included I've Just Seen A Face and It's only Love. It's so Xmas-y. All greens, browns, greys and ambers. The photos seem so suggest Christmas, too. The one with Lennon's face framed by, what looks to be, junipers.

Listening, I can, without even trying, remember our living room done up for Christmas, We had a white flocked tree, clear bulbs and red balls. Red only, as we were a little more cosmopolitan the rest of Pico-Rivera. :) My dad was a breadwinner, but they were divorced by then. All we had in the fridge were some capers, a jar of martini onions and some brandied walnuts. I got desperate once and tried one. Ew. My testicles desended that night. Coincidence? You be the judge.

Rubber Soul was the first record by the Fabs that I liked. But,I came to adore them and saved for each new release. I ended up working my way backwards through their catalogue. I even had some bootleg before it was cool. "Get Back To Toronto". An LP I bought at a swap meet. It was them all right.

The Beatles were never guitar gods, but sure knew how to arrange their songs into pure-D ear candy. Or Martin did. And the drumming on Rubber Soul is too cool. Played like a lead instrument. More like punctuation, than meter.
Too bad they had to get on each other's nerves. The records that could have been made between '71 and '80...
Ah, well, Merry Chistmas single coil lovers.

I love Rubber Soul but do not associate it with Christmas at all. I think that run of 4 albums - Revolver, Rubber Soul, Sgt. Peppers and Magical Mystery Tour are their best and maybe the best 4 album run of any band in history.

This is such a coincidence  I asked for the vinyl version (yes, asked. I'm still 15 -_-) of Rubber Soul for Christmas. I already have the CD version, and it's my favorite album, so I wanted to try it on vinyl. I don't really associate it with Christmas, though. :?

I hate it when that happens.
Just use the 1:1:1 ratio. 1 egg to 1 spoonful of sugar to 1 bottle of rum.

(Or cognac.)

I think someone's been smoking something all green and brown and grey and amber.

Yes indeed. The Beatles, were marketing geniuses Many of their 45's and LP's were intentionally released during Christmas shopping season and millions were given as gifts. This is why so many people get nostalgic about the Fab Four at xmas time and play their records. I know I do! :)
