I've owned a couple over the years.

Nice guitars.

Very nice guitars from past experience with them. Good pic retro!

Thanks, cvilleira!

For that snarky Angus Young growl, they can't be beat.

And the dramatic cutaways provide ultra-easy access to the upper register for playing leads to songs like "Mississippi Queen", "Comfortably Numb" and Journey's "Lights".

My Gibson SGJ is my second favorite guitar, after my chambered Tele.
Old school high dynamic humbucker sound, plays much like an long-necked acoustic, and overall very nice. The backward tilted neck and very high string elevation with a raised bridge can take some getting used to, but I love it.

My 61 ri SG is my go to guitar. It has balls is the best way for me to describe it.

Love the looks...love the tone...love the weight...the "feel" is very, very different than any. Fender and most Gibsons I've played...try it before you buy it!

What bridge do you have on that SG Arjay?

Standard vintage-spec TOM. The guitar is actually a Historic Shop '61 Les Paul re-issue with hardware aged by Tom Murphy and Classic 57 pickups. Otherwise the same basic guitar as a Vibrola-equipped SG Standard.

Two words: John Cipollina.

Actually, I wish Gibson would issue an LP with the neck mounted that far outside the body. It would be a lot less claustrophobic, gnomesayin'?

Can't say I use it all that much. I'm just not all that fond of a vibrato tailpiece -- on any guitar. But I enjoy those who play an SG and do. John Cippolina (as mentioned above) comes to mind. "Pride Of Man", anyone?

SG's are extremely neck heavy due to a usually fat neck and an extremely thin body. That's why I prefer the balanced weight of a Les Paul. Don't like the weight? Get a chambered.

Twew dat!

SG's are extremely "nose-heavy" (as with my 12-string Strat).

It does take some time to acclimate to them.
