I just ordered a Jazz Black Pearl PG from Fender, instead of going through GC, or SA. Fender shipped it out the same day, (no playing around about so many business days before shipping), and it's the correct PG I ordered. Way to go FENDER! When I'm needing other Fender bass parts, I'll order them from Fender.

What does PG mean? I'll probably regret this.

Anyone?

Only two more votes to hit 50.

I went with Thrilled. My first purchase was a Fender Bullet Bass, my last was a Squier VM Jaguar Bass and have a Squier VM Bass VI on order.

A variety of Stratocasters, basses and amps with the Fender name been mine.

Every issue was handled to my satisfaction on Fender's dime. I have always bought my instruments from a local store with a good reputation.

I feel the quality for the price has been going up lately. :D

I agree with DaJeepster, about the quality for the price has been going up. I have two 2013 Am. Std. Basses that are right on for quality control, and just well assembled, and fitted. The Am. Std. Series is the kinda' middle priced Series in Fender Basses. I'd compare my two Am. Std. Series to the Select Series for finished product, and playability. I chose my Fenders over Rickenbacker 4003's that were up around Fender Select Series in price. Image All the way.

Let's see a Mustang guitar, a G-Dec Jr amp, and a variety of strings & picks over the years--that covers it.

I have no complaints.

And Fender is a leading candidate for when I finally get a fretless bass.

I four Fender Products now, I have a 1973 Tele Custom I bought new a Mustang II new a 1984 Stratocaster used and a Ultimate Chorus 2 x 12 killer amp. I did so much work on my Strat that it is a completely different guitar than the one I bought years ago. I got a good deal on it from an old guy that lived down the street. I went with him to pick it out when his hands got bad he sold it to me. I did not like the finger board the color or the sound. I put an ebony finger board / neck, several sets of pickups new wiring got rid of the sick paint job. I am done with it now I hope. EMG gold pups and natural finish. Killer sound. My 1973 Tele Custom is a guitar I looked for in three states and 19 months, well worth it. I love maple finger boards and the range of the humbucker pups. This Telecaster
looks cooler and sounds better than my way over priced Les Paul.
My Ultimate Chorus was a panic buy from EBay. My 1967 Vox AC30 died at a very bad time. I needed a loud amp asap for a big out door venue. I learned to never trust tubes.
The best is a Mustang II, it can sound like my Vox AC30 and saves my back. My main pony now days. I have a lap top just for it, what a show we put on. One 12" speaker and 40 watts of SS power, into a PA system is the way to go. Yes I am very pleased With Fender.

The Fender Fretless Basses are pretty ding dang good. It's hard to go wrong with one.

Far from thrilled.

They make the most recognisable guitars in the world, all configs, colours, Ltd Eds, specials, one offs, artists yada yada, it's endless (yet forumites still find gaps in the offerings).

As a lefty, we get next to nothing. And even fewer of those even get into stores.

Yeah, there's slim pickings for the sinister.

I'm right-handed, but a southpaw model is on the GAS list, so I can flip it over and play a few Albert King songs the right (no pun intended) way.

I have to say, my guitars are fine.

However I own a Super Champ X2. Love the little thing apart from just before christmas I had to send it off as it produced a buzzing noise on the low G, with every guitar I tried it with, that would get progressively better the further from the low G you moved.

They put new tubes in and tightened everything on the warranty which seemed to have fixed it but now just over a month of having it back the exact same problem has occurred again. I don't even take it anywhere or play it very loud so it's hardly mistreated.

Just a bit exasperated, can't see the point in sending it off again for the same thing to happen :?

Considering the first one that arrived blew up about 30 seconds after switching on, which was replaced rapidly to be fair, I'm kinda losing faith in the amp somewhat.

I wouldn't say I'd never buy Fender again, because I still like their amplifiers (they have yet to let me down-lucky I guess :P ) but I won't ever buy a Fender brand guitar or bass again because of my recent experience with them that I've mentioned in the Squier bass forum, and another reason that I didn't mention initially dealing with their customer service over it. It was that attitude that pissed me off about the whole thing (I will admit they later rectified it, but to me the damage was already done) and historically this wasn't the first time it happened.

The first time it was involving a Mexican-made P-Bass in 2005 (piss poor fret job) and of course recently a Squier Bass VI. I know Squier is a budget brand, but it shouldn't have left the factory with a broken neck and unplayable. They tried to blame AMS about this, but that's bullshit since it was brand new, sealed in a box from Fender's factory. It may be Squier, but they still put their name on it. Besides, AMS handled the whole thing excellently and I was refunded. This is one of the reasons I use this company, unlike experiences I've had with others and why I don't buy anything locally.

So now I've switched over to Schecter and purchased a Diamond-J bass (I needed a 21-fret neck) and an Ultra VI (to replace the Squier Bass VI) guitar. I have to say these are the best instruments I've played in 20 years and the quality of them is far superior to anything I've played Fender-related (with probably the exception of Custom Shop, which I've never tried so I can't say) in the past 20 years. They seem to put more care into their instruments, even how they box them. Of course, this is my opinion on how I feel about my instruments and my experiences with them. You may have a different opinion and experience with these and I'm not trying to start a flame war on who is better or not.

The Schecters just feel right to me and they are well suited to me more than the Fender-related guitars have been. It has actually been like night and day with feel and playability, including some American-made Fender basses I've tried. I will say I did get lucky, I suppose with my Squier Custom Telecaster. I feel that still is a nice guitar (for my purposes, anyway) and that's what really started my initial praise for the brand because I was so impressed with it. Now I feel like a jack $@! for doing so, because unfortunately it didn't carry over to anything else I purchased. I guess when your dealing with that price point, it's very hit and miss with quality. Lesson learned, there.
