Hi guys,

I'm a beginner and I came across the Rocksmith 2014 web site and wonder if any of you have used it and if so would you recommend it?

Thanks,

Harry

Yes, I have the old version and just got the 2014 version a few days ago. I love it. I does take some time to learn, if you buy it don't get in a hurray, go slow and really learn what it is teaching you. I have not had a chance to try the "Session Mode", but I am looking forward to it.

Personally, I would not use it as a learning tool. Just look up chords online and learn music theory. However, I bet it could be fun. Just don't use it for all of your learning.

This is strange,

I had three other posts to this thread plus a new post of my own! I now only have two posts, anyone have any idea what happened to the others?

I have no idea who to contact or how to contact anyone, if you guys have any idea I'd appreciate your passing this along. I've never had anything happen like this before.

Thank you for your help,

Harry

Thanks guys,

The yes to no ratio on Rocksmith seems to be about 50/50. I think like anyone getting started we don't want to waste time on something that doesn't work. Or even worse, learn from something that teaches you wrong!

I started learning the guitar using "Gibson Learn and Master CD series". I got to the place of learning the 6 strings, some chords etc and playing a couple songs with 2 strings and started mastering a simple song using all strings.

Then I moved and 5 months have passed since I've been able to pick my Fat Strat up again. So I now realize I'll have to build my fingertips up again and get back to practice 30 to 60 minutes a day which I'm committed to do!

I was watching TV when I saw the ad about Rocksmith and thought it sounded great to be able to interact with a program as it taught me to play.

Can Rochsmith coexist with Gibson Learn and Master and not completely mess me up? I want to learn lead guitar and my primary music is Rock with a little Country thrown in! What do you think?

Thanks a bunch,

Harry

I think you will like it. I really don't understand why ppl don't like it, its an educational tool and game in 1 package. Its not meant to be the end all of guitar tutorials, it just a tool to help you play better, there are a lot of lessons and exercises to help with the lessons, scale exercises, and you get to learn some pretty good songs note for note. You will have a lot of fun with it. they have Aerosmith, Iron Maiden, B.B. King, Kansas, Alice in chains, Kiss, and a lot more. Jam on my guitar brother!!!!

Looks like you have a good attitude Harry, so, you will like and learn each and every time you handle your guitar. Have fun with Rocksmith it looks pretty cool and rock on little Brother! :D 8)

Hi Moparguy, TA462, Solid Body Love Songs and Omar59,

You guys obviously are into the Christmas spirit and I must tell you I appreciate it very much. There is nothing better than positive input to make you feel good and go forward.

Playing the guitar is something I've wanted to do for over 40 years and the Fender Strat was the one for me. Its the guitar I saw John Fogerty playing years ago and I thought right then "when I take up the guitar, that's the guitar for me"!

So thank you all for the good words and well wishes, i'll keep in touch and let you know how I'm doing!

Merry Christmas and thanks for your willingness to help a newbe!

Harry
