So I currently gig with a modded blues junior. And oddly enough it's been plently of amp for the gigs I play until recently when the sound guy didn't Mic us in a mid sized auditorium. I also have a twin I have access to but its old and heavy so Ib prefer not to take it out. I've been looking for an amp that will have cleaner headroom compared to the Jr but can be break up without needing earbleeding volume and will take pedals well. fuzz in particular. I'm looking at the blues deluxe vs the deluxe ri.

What is the dif in clean volume? Or overall volume. I have played a hot rod deluxe and it's wattage seems appropriate but I like the BD tone better. I'm attracted to the tube rectifier and reverb on the Drri but is it loud enough?

Why not do a search? With 232 posts under your belt I would think by now you'd already know this subject matter has been beaten half to death. There must be literally thousands of comments about those two amplifiers on this forum. Hell, maybe tens of thousands.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

The DRRI projects a bit "differently" than a Blues Dlx, so it's not necessarily "louder" but just more "present."
I would liken this to those Bose Wave radios and the Bose L1 PA thingy...they're not "loud," but they project well and fill up the room.
Personally, I would go with the DRRI and a couple of pedals (for fuzz, OD, distortion, whatever). It's wattage is less, but the projection and tone are overall better.

I was looking to buy a Blues Deluxe, mainly because I didn't have enough money to afford a Deluxe Reverb. In the end I wound up buying the Supersonic 60 as it was at an absurdly low price and, compared to the Deluxe Reverb, also sounds at least as awesome as the DR does :P So you might want to check that amp as well, it's a bit stronger (60W), all tube and sounds awesome.

But anyway, if I had the money and was just considering these 2 amps - I'd go for Deluxe Reverb. In the end I never did play the Blues Deluxe (despite being almost 100% sure I'd buy one if I liked it), but the DR sounds awesome. And even judging by the price alone you can be pretty much certain it's a better quality amp than the Blues Deluxe.

The Deluxe Reverb, in my experience anyway, cuts a mix better than a Blues Deluxe. Just my experience. The SS series seems to have it's own set of problems. I always look at it this way. The less bells and whistles the better. The DR has two real channels with its own separate tone controls. It just adds to its value and versatility imo.
