Indeed. I don't blame you there. Nothing can kill inspiration like having to screw around with a bunch of extraneous stuff beforehand. Well, that and being in a band that all they want to do is sit around and smoke those "jazz cigarettes," but that is a topic for another discussion.

Right on, SK! I started using the SR-16 when they first came out for hundreds of dollars. I still have it and it still works fine, even learned to edit and make my own rhythms.

Nice! Let me know if you need any help with it, I know how to do everything that drum machine is capable of. Got it in my younger days when I had time to do things like sit around reading manuals.

You mentioned you aren't really interested in programming beats, which I totally understand. Even if you stick to the stock presets, you can create songs by chaining them together. It's pretty quick and easy to do that.

Thnx man, I may end up reading the manual, I dont want to get to caught up in reading/programming and lose play time though. I work IT all day long, get home I'm done with computers and manuals :)

The BOSS DR-550 is pretty simple to edit or program, so you'll probably have no problem in messing around with it. When I first got one way back in the day, I managed to figure most of it out without even consulting the manual. The manual is pretty well written, in case you need to consult it, too.

That's cool you got one so cheap! It's a great piece of gear to have on hand, especially for demos.

Drum machines, amps, pedals - I have the same philosophy for all of them: If you need to turn on the light and put your glasses on to operate them, they are more trouble than gain.

Agree with that, in the end I just want to play. Once I get this thing hook up I may lay some track on the reel to reel, Mics are still dangling in front of the cab ready to go.
